Prolly my two favorites cinematographers. Which do you prefer?
On Deakins corner we have a fantastic lineup of films. To name some of my favorites: The Shawshank Redemption, The Big Lebowski, Fargo, No Country for Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James, Skyfall, Prisoners, Sicario, and of course, Blade Runner 2049.
But then Lubezski has almost as good a filmography with Sleepy Hollow, Children of Men, Gravity, The Tree of Life, Birdman and The Revenant. The camera work on these are out of this world.
I'm a loyalist so I gotta go with Deakins but Lubezski is just right behind. I think Deakins paints a more beautiful picture, every shot is a work of art, but Lubezski's camera movement is so fluid and seamless and is quite honestly unmatched. It's really, really close though.
