Liverpool under no small amount of pressure tonight. And they're not even playing. He's relegated Hazard, Giroud, Courtois etc but given a welcome start to Willian.
Chelsea: Caballero, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Zappacosta, Fabregas, Kante, Alonso, Willian, Pedro, Morata. Subs: Barkley, Hazard, Bakayoko, Moses, Giroud, Cahill, Eduardo.
Huddersfield Town: Lossl, Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Kongolo, Lowe, Billing, Hogg, Mooy, van La Parra, Depoitre. Subs: Malone, Coleman, Pritchard, Ince, Quaner, Mounie, Hadergjonaj.
CFC 1/4 Huddy 16 Draw 5

Nothing-all HT. Scenes at the whistle as ref Mason awards a corner. Willian places the ball just as Mason blows up for half time before Willian can take it. He's surrounded by blue players, Antonio Conte, bench staff, stewards...

Mooy hooves it upfield after Willian is upended and loses possession. Depoitre collects it and clatters past the outrushing keeper Caballero and dinks it over the last man's head on '50. Take your Star Trek, take your USS Enterprise, take your Captain's Stardate, and shove it up your arse.

The cross comes in on '62 and is whacked away by one of their defenders but only as far as Alonso's face which the ball smacks off and bounces into the net.

Well thats the relegation sorted. See big Glenn Murray was rested tonight so still a bit fearful he could get the winner at Anfield on Sunday

Feel sorry for Swansea. Their manager is quite a good guy.

They beat that club from Liverpool (not Everton) only to throw it away the next game against a non-royal...wow.
Now they are two points behind and with a significant worse goal difference. And while this other club has a rather easy game at home, they have it even a bit harder: better ranked team, and an away game.
Southhampton won the six points game and are almost through due to their good goal differnece compared to Swansea and the lead of three points.
I guess the two last decisions have been made.
Stupid, more stupid, most stupid, Chelsea.

Listen, it's Conte's parting shot at the club. His team selection was, not for the first time this season, quite baffling, and any last faithful feeling I had about him has gone. He was either deluded in his selection, or deliberate, and I think the latter. Let's say he was deluded : we're playing relegation strugglers Huddersfield, 8 wins and 27 goals before this game. We will put Hazard on the bench, along with Giroud and Moses. We won't start with Cahill either. It's only Huddersfield after all. That is deluded plain and simple. How is it possible to underestimate a side that is fighting for its EPL renewal? F***ing Hell, man, did you not watch them at City the other day? But the choice is made : Willian had a poor day, dancing around with the ball like there was all the time in the world, instead of playing direct effective passes; Morata was as ineffectual as he always is, even with the goal at his mercy on '42 when he beat the keeper but let the ball run away from him and could only clip it back into the box from the byline; Caballero needn't have rushed out to confront Depoitre - Rudiger was already gaining on him; fancy backflicks that lead nowhere and often take their intended recipient completely unawares; pretty passing football outside the box without having any particular direction to go in - certainly not goalwards - and this would be alright, but not all the f***ing time...what's the point in going on? No one is that deluded at this level - so the latter option stands. Huddersfield did what they came to do and did it well, excessive and at times properly cringeworthy timewasting (even in the first half) notwithstanding. Conte got his improved contract last summer but did not want more than a short contract. I'd be a liar to say I didn't commend this man to the hilt after last season's title triumph (and style of play) and I don't know what the f*** has happened behind the scenes, but it's time to go. Thank you for 16/17.
