Some we wish had been ours, some we were more than happy belonged to someone else and some were pretty much just like ours. Essays always welcome and encouraged. ![](http://i.pinimg.com/736x/35/ef/e5/35efe5e8e6b5da8221ac4282dddb1d2f.jpg) ![](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_MAmnfFVgjuU/TBQamVy4oYI/AAAAAAAACKc/yqmKontAcSA/s1600/i+remembr+mama+1.jpg)

Agnes Moorehead gave one of the great single scene performances as a mother - ![](http://cinema.wisc.edu/sites/cinema.wisc.edu/files/styles/large/public/field/image/Moorehead.jpg?itok=-0_IL52G) and was the mother in a film of slightly lesser quality - ![](https://smumcounty.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/agnesmooreheadtheconqueror.jpg?w=590)

Great topic, BAT. Another great single-scene Mom performance is Jo Van Fleet in COOL HAND LUKE. That scene is so sad. ![](http://movieactors.com/photos-stars/jo-van-fleet-coolhand-4.jpg) Van Fleet played another memorable Mom to James Dean in EAST OF EDEN.

This is Forrest's Mama. She always said, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." ![](https://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BNThjZmRkZGYtYzNkNC00MTBiLWFkNGEtN2VlZWQ5MTIxYzU5XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjAwODA4Mw@@._V1_.jpg) Mama always had a way of explaining things so I could understand them.

Oh right, Stiffler's Mom (Jennifer Coolidge) from American Pie. Shit, that's almost twenty years old. I've grown old . I need to log off for a moment.

Oh, geez, Bat, now I’m getting all teary-eyed… ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) My grandmother brought me to the public library to see Bambi when I was very, very little—they were showing it there on a big screen. All of the kids brought blankets and lay on the floor while the adults sat in chairs, and I remember crying when Bambi’s mother died…but my grandmother was there to comfort me, and the whole thing is just a wonderful memory, in the end, because even with something sad it turned out all right in the end, me and my grandma there. Wow. Sorry for having to treat everyone here to my own personal stories, but that’s the first thing that comes to mind with that… I also have a sweet memory with my mom and Dumbo there. Boy, the things that touch you…
