This show has seen it's ups and downs but it's come back to its roots recently. I'm actually enjoying it again. For a couple reasons:
They got rid of Olicity indefinitely.
Oliver is back to his old ways, a Batman-lite if you will. But he's come a long way to redeem himself.
The new team is fun to watch.
We got the action back.
There's a genuine plot.
Laurel Lance (even though it was E2) came back and the exit to her cameo was ambiguous.
I'm actually excited to see who Prometheus is.
It used to be if the show came on, I would be OK if I missed it, now I'm keeping up with the episodes.

This season has been pretty good, better than the previous two. Still don't like some of the members on the team though. Curtis is especially irritating. I am glad the flashbacks have returned to actually telling the story of his past and not the origin of the seasons villain.

SPOILER ALERT!!! The Prometheus reveal (Adrian Chase) was a let down. There is nothing clever about screwing around with canon. So where does this leave the identity of Vigilante? Unless they plan to introduce his brother Dorian Chase (2009)

I was pleasantly surprised by the reveal. I thought they were going to make it Talia. Not sure why they didn't unmask Vigilante while they had him.

I agree. Season 5 of 'Arrow' has been a huge improvement in comparison to Season 4 which was truly awful and barely watchable thanks to lame villains like Bee Lady, Andy Diggle, The Calculator and Donna and the only problems I have with the show is how characters like Ragman disappear and are never talked about again and characters like William just randomly pop in out of the blue. If you never watched 'Arrow' before this season or was a casual viewer the chances are you wouldn't even know Oliver has a son...

Season 5 was leaps and bounds better than Seasons 3 and 4. That finale....wow!

I've really enjoyed season 5, and the finale was killer. It's not my favorite season, but it's a definite improvement over the last season. I did have a bit of a problem with the new team dynamic, but I went into this season believing at least the first half of it should be Oliver going it solo before introducing new characters. They kind of annoyed me at first, but they grew on me as they evolved.

It wasn't bad, a vast improvement over seasons 3 & 4 though they were stretching to get to the final and the filler episodes were getting annoying.
The finale was good though I have a feeling we all know who lives and who dies. I didn't really like how the flashbacks ended. I knew they would have to contrive him getting back to the island, but they could have put a least a bit more effort into it.
This season is what season 3 should have been: Oliver's reckless killing of bad guys coming back to haunt him.

I'm really kicking myself for dropping the show after Season 4. Who knew after two bad seasons they would turn things around and get back on track.
Luckily Netflix will show Season 5 in June, allowing me to get caught before Season 6.

Not long to wait now for Season 6 everybody!!!
A lot of news has been revealed about 'Arrow' Season 6 over the past few weeks and for those who don't know not only is Deathstroke now confirmed to appear in multiple episodes but the Huntress, Arsenal and Ragman have all been confirmed to return this season too. Richard Dragon is going to be the main villain (played by Kirk Acevedo from 'Fringe' and '12 Monkeys') and Marc Guggenheim has said Vigilante's real identity is going to be revealed at the start of the season and it is going to be somebody who we all know that is going to shock everybody. My money is on Roy being Vigilante and they are going to play out a similar storyline to the Jason Todd/Red Hood/Arkham Knight in Batman with Roy being brainwashed by somebody (possibly Talia) to hate the Green Arrow and want to kill him.

My problem with season 5 is that Olver and his entire team of "heroes" turned out to be totally incompetent and useless. They were so useless that Oliver ended up needing to recruit a team of villains to save them all. That's not what I want in a superhero show. It seems like this is the route all the Berlanti Superhero shows eventually go. The heroes get completely beat over and over by the bad guys for the entire season and then barely survive because of some completely random thing that happens in the season finale. Like in Arrow season 4 when Darhk's magic just stopped working.
I can only imagine how many times Supergirl will get her butt kicked by Reign this season. It gets really old. It is possible to find a balance between the heroes being to strong and too weak. They just need better writing.
Agents of SHIELD does it very well. They face daunting challenges but never appear incompetent or weak or stupid. When the script calls for Quake to get captured, she takes out 20 guys in an excellent well choreographed fight scene before they overwhelm her.
I could go on with this subject but I'm done. I still enjoy the Arrow universe and will keep watching all the shows but it does get frustrating.

I kind of hate that Olicity may be coming back. You and America brother. They seem to be unwilling to realize when Olicity was at its strongest, the show was at its weakest. They need to let it die instead of trying to appease a vocal minority.

This^ is where I’m at currently with the majority of them. I’ve watched 4 episodes of my Season 5 Blu-rays so far and the only one I like is Rory/Ragman, who I think is easily the best of the bunch. His scenes with Felicity and Oliver have been the most interesting parts. For some strange reason the actor kind of reminds me of Ezra Miller in the Justice League trailers (after doing some searching, I discovered he was in Season 1 of Blindspot. I’d thought he looked familiar, but couldn’t place him).

Season 6 got off to a great start. Only major complaint is Felicity, but she was barely there, so hardly enough to ruin this episode.
Really looking forward to seeing where everything is going.

There was also Brother Eye AKA Cooper AKA felicity's ex... Why on earth did she get villains as opposed to 'the black canary'? Donna....my God...let's have family drama while we're trying to save the world from nukes...

Yeah looks like dirty Olicity is coming back... There were some other more significant problems with that premiere imo. On a whole it was okish.

I'm just wondering is how Felicity, who tripped over her own feet, survived the bombing of Lian Yu, while Thea, a trained ninja, is in a coma.
With Mr. Terrifc around she really serves no purpose now and they are desperately tying to find a way to make her relevant to the show. They should just got their losses and let her go. it will only help the show in the long run while keeping her will drag the show down. Again.

This show really needs to get rid of Felicity, yes she's toned down but the damage is already done. She doesn't make the show better.
