One of the fathers of American soundracks was born 130 years ago in Vienna when it was part of the Austria-Hungary empire. First at RKO and Later at Warners., and late in life had a huge hit for 10 weeks on USA hit parades with the Theme from A Summer's Place Steinerr 's last composed music was Disney's Those Calloways 1965

He wrote so many of my favorite scores, teleadm. There are almost too many to count. Almost every Warner Brothers film ever made, it seems. I happen to love the beautiful theme from A SUMMER PLACE, which you posted. Another that I also love is the main theme from THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS (1960). Among his more orchestral scores, I particularly love KING KONG (1933). That one's quite atypical for him; not lyrical at all, but bombastic, intense, primitive. teleadm , I swapped to a different DARK theme; let me know if it works.

I could go on foerever about Steiner's Classic scores, but I would like to mention on of his last and relatively unknown for the 1961 film PARRISH. I was able to track down on the the LP's of the music and I love it.

Not all of his music is listenable (mostly doing with old-time music scores), but was he influential. One of my favorites was Now Voyager.
