Just watching the trailer for the sequel for the first time and thought it treats Wasp as a bit of an afterthought, but she should be far better in all aspects since she was not only training her whole life probably but even trained Scott. Reminded me the first film was a bit pathetic, she couldn't do the job until her daddy said so and a completely unqualified thief gets the gig.

Well I'd say Pym chose Lang because he thought he was the perfect candidate - he had a level of moral code - he was in prison for giving back money from a corporation that had stolen from it's customers, plus he was a scientist - masters in electrical engineering. Pym saw he was skilled criminal but still a good man. He may have re-offended but that was test through manipulation by Pym Hope was estranged from her father. Plus he didn't want her anywhere near the tech because of what happened to her mother/his wife.

Maybe he was worried that shit might go wrong and didn't want to risk her first?

I really like Ant-Man & I feel like Scott is more of the guinea pig. I'm looking forward to his place in Avengers 4. Wasp seems the more polished character, one who takes what Ant-Man has accomplished & streamlined it. She'll probably see a lot more action ahead in the MCU. I prefer & enjoy Scott's levity & sense of humour. It's a welcome dose for MCU on Earth.

She only knows how to fight. And is focused enough to learn to use it faster than Scott. And of course she couldn't do it until he said so. It was his tech. What would she do, steal it?

The real disappointment is that we will likely never see her have a starring role in an Avengers movie. Lily has unfortunately said that she has a very small role in Avengers 4. Which probably means she will turn to ash in the post credits of her own movie. That's lame.

That sucks because I would've loved to have seen the original Avengers crew from the comics together on screen

She knows that that is her father's home. And why would she audition to steal the suit. Also, it was already mentioned that he feared for Hope because of what happened to his wife. The only reason that he is allowing her to wear the suit now is because Scott came back from the quantum realm.

That sucks because I would've loved to have seen the original Avengers crew from the comics together on screen I know! I suppose it's possible that by "small role" she meant supporting player. I mean, technically everyone had a "small role" in Infinity War. But I assume it means she won't be there alongside the main cast for the whole movie. I hope I'm misinterpreting though... Heres the article: comicbook.com/marvel/2018/02/03/avengers-4-wasp-evangeline-lilly/

You seem to be under the impression that things like motivation and narrative are written in stone.

When you change the foundation of what makes the characters who they are then everything falls apart.

Evangeline Lilly... no more Kate please. That's subjective, so what. It's like my opinion man. As it is for why I enjoy it enough I bought in on blu ray, 1 of only 8 in the MCU. Let it go.

Yes, you could take Hope out all together. But then they needed a person to be on the inside of the company... And you also need a connection for Pym to have. And the movie was about fathers wanting to be with their daughters and not having that wife anymore. See what is happening here? Unraveling.
