The ones that really affected you badly?
The Colts losing to Pittsburgh in the 2005 divisional round. I could mention losing to the Saints in the 2009 Super Bowl, but 2005 was arguably the best roster the Colts had assembled in the Peyton Manning era, yet they fell short in their first playoff game. They mounted a comeback just to get fan hopes up but Mike Vanderjagt missed the game-tying field goal. Of course, they won the Super Bowl a year later, but at the time this was a heartbreaker.
Arsenal losing to Liverpool in the 2008 Champions' League Quarter Final. Down 3-2 on aggregate late in the second leg, Theo Walcott embarked on a downright incredible run to set up Adebayor who scored the goal that would've sent Arsenal through on away goals. Moments later however, Ryan Babel took a tumble and Steven Gerrard scored the resulting penalty to put Liverpool back on top. Cruel stuff - I firmly believe that the Walcott run would still be remembered as one of the all-time great Champions' League moments had that goal been the decider. This loss was so crushing personally that I vowed never again to get so emotionally invested in sports.

2003 AFL Grand Final- Collingwood threw away 4 years of building with one embarrasingly inept performance. 3 weeks before the game Collingwood put in a Superb effort to defeat 2x defending premiers Brisbane, seemingly their final rite of passage to claiming a premiership. Collingwood cruised their way to the Grand Final while Brisbane had to play gruelling games agaibst Adelaide and Sydney. Brisbane had injuries and were forced to pick unfit players. This was our time. Revenge for last year's narrow loss and validation for sticking sticking with the team through 13 barren years. On Grand Final Day my Magpies were deplorable, trailing by 67 points late before Brisbane eased off and won by 50. Watching a team I'd invested so much hope in and allowed myself to be taken along for the ride judt capitulate when it mattered was soul destroying.

I don't tend to suffer crushing defeats. Pretty level headed when it comes to losing. Win some lose some. Always take losing well, clap the winners, congratulate their fans on the way out. Have a sense of humour.
I don't get a big low if we lose a big game, but do get the high if we win. For example, Shire have a big (for us) Cup final game tomorrow evening... Nothing really doing in the league this season, finished 6th. The league Cup final is our last shot at winning silverware.
If we win, I'll be jumping around singing, out on the pitch getting photo of me lifting the trophy with the team. I will drive home with a buzz and spring in my step.
If we lose, I'll pat the boys on the back, clap the winners, and just have a normal drive home. I'll analyse the game in my head, and turn it over with people on text email etc.
I won't feel crushed or down at all. I will have sympathy for the players and all the volunteers at our club, who have all worked so hard to get us through the tournament over the months to reach the final. They must get a crushed feeling from losing a big shit or bust game.

1960 World Series....Pirates over the Yankees.
Bill Mazeroski's walkoff HR in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 was a crusher that I still shake my head at when I think about it.

The ones that really affected you badly? Cowboys losing 1994 NFC Championship Game to 49ers. If the Cowboys had won that NFC Championship Game, then the Cowboys would've destroyed the Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX and would've won an incredible 4 straight Super Bowls.

1989 Grand Final Balmain v Canberra
Still to this day, almost 30 years later, I can’t watch it. It’s often regarded as the greatest Grand Final ever played, and it universally finishes in the Top 3. But this crushed me as a 9 year old......
And if your really bored - here is the ENTIRE game

That's the first NRL Grand Final I can remember watching. I was 7 (or maybe 8, my bday falls in late September, making it a sad historical fact that I spent my 21st birthday watching Collingwood lose on of the all time great GFs in 2002) and most of my year 2 class were Tigers fans. My mum told me Canberra would win and, as usual, she was right.
I'll add 2 that made me cry when I was young: Collingwood losing an elimination final to Geelong in 1992, and Australia losing to the West Indies by 1 run at Adelaide in 1993. 1992, 1993 and 1996 NRL GFs were too one sided to feel bad about.

That Adelaide Test hooked me on Test Cricket. The Edgbaston Test in the 2005 Ashes is the only game I’ve seen better. Despite Australia losing both games - they both made my heart soar. I’m strange when it comes to cricket - I always want Australia to win, of course, but I don’t feel the same crushing feeling when they lose. As a late August birth - Usually the Tigers are playing on the weekend of my Birthday. I think they’ve won twice in about 25 years from memory....

1967 Divisional Round, Green Bay Packers 28, L.A. Rams 7.
More recently, the Cavs 4-3 2016 win over the Warriors.

1. 1993 World Series, Blue Jays vs. Phillies, Joe Carter ends it with a series walk-off home run. Had to wait another 15 years for that ring.
2. Donovan McNabb puking his gutless guts up onto the field during the worst 2 minute drill executed by a team in history in that Super Bowl loss to the Patriots.

There have been lots of bad moments in Philly sports, but for some reason I still remember the Phillies losing in 5 to the Cardinals in 2011 I think. It was the best season in Phillies history. They won over 100 games and had four aces. They were huge favorites. Roy Halliday gave up a homerun in the first at bat of the game. He then went on to pitch a complete game and the Cardinals did not score another run, but the Phillies lost 1-0. The Phillies were SO good that season and I expected them to win it all. I was crushed.

Cowher losing to Aikman, Elway, and Brady were understandable; to lose to Stan Humphries at home was not. Steelers outplayed the Chargers for all but a few plays, but those plays were enough to lose the game.

Hands down, Super Bowl 51. No excuse for the Falcons to bowl that lead, we were in complete control and shit the bed epically. That one stung badly.

That call and the "Tuck Rule" call are the 2 worst blown calls in the history of sports.
