Old Yeller (1957) Bambi (1942) The Cave of the Yellow Dog (2005) The Black Stallion (1979) Goodbye, My Lady (1956) Ring of Bright Water (1969) Winged Migration (2001) (documentary)

Outside of your great selections: The Aristocats Charlie, the Lonesome Cougar Benji The Cat from Outer Space Monkeys Go Home CHOMPS Great Mouse Detective National Velvet The Shaggy Dog ('59) That Darn Cat ('65) The Yearling Love them all, vegalrya. There are almost too many films to name, aren't there? And what a gift they are, reminding us - through our love for animals - of our deep humanity. Yes I agree, I grew up with many of the Disney animal related films on Wonderful World of Disney. So many I can't remember them all. The zoo was always my favorite place as a child. I had actually forgotten about CHOMPS but it came on one of the over the air movie channels the other day and I watched the last 30 minutes of it. It brought back some memories!

Nice topic spider! There´s many I like from the previous posts and I'll add some more.
Watership Down (1978) Harvey (1950) :-) Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)
And since spider mentioned "The Cave of the Yellow Dog" which sounds interesting, I just remembered this nice film about a mongolian girl who dreams about being a eagle huntress: The Eagle Huntress (2016)

Duma 2005, directed by Carroll Ballard, oddly unknown, about a cheetah cub that's rescued and later integrated back to nature. There's also Born Free 1965. Jean-Jacques Annaud's The Bear 1988 and Two Brothers 2004, the latter is tiger cubs.

It's time to remedy that. Thanks!

Black Beauty (1994)--by far, the best version of the Anna Sewell book. Babe (but avoid the misguided sequel). Quill: The Life of a Guide Dog Hachi-ko and Hachi--both versions based on the same story are worth watching. And by extension, the "Jurassic Bark" episode of Futurama, gets to me every time I see it. Kedi Benji Old Yeller March of the Penguins

LEAN ON PETE. Not a feelgood film, and not for family audiences, but certainly one of the great films about a boy and a horse.

Domesticated or wild, live action or animated, narrative or documentary. . . You may say these don't count, but my gal and I ( both animal lovers ) always root for the "monster"! Godzilla (1998, 2014) King Kong (1933, 1976, 2005, 2017) Cloverfield (2008) Rampage (2018)

You may say these don't count, but my gal and I ( both animal lovers ) always root for the "monster"! Haven't seen all of them, but I certainly get it. Who can't love and empathize/sympathize with KING KONG? Cloverfield is even more deserving of sympathy, in interviews, the director made it clear that he was a baby, screaming for his mother!

teleadm, spiderwort, jeffersoncodyI just watched Duma and it was indeed a very lovely film, so much so that NEVER CRY WOLF will be one of my next films to see. I've previously seen Carrol Ballard's THE BLACK STALLION and FLY AWAY HOME which I also thought were amazing works with the animals as centerpieces.
