There was also that shark-jump kid they added to "Married with Children." The writers threw in an in-joke about his disappearance by having his face turn up on a milk carton. Another "Happy Days" disappearance was "Spike," Fonzie's "Mini-Me." Replaced by Chachi with no explanation.

And whatever became of Lieutenant Kevin Thomas Riley? "Kevin Riley was also featured in the Star Trek: The Lost Years series, set between the end of TOS and Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Riley appeared in the novel The Galactic Whirlpool, as a prominent member of the team sent to contact inhabitants of a lost generation ship.
He also appeared in the novel Probe, set after Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, where he was a protégé of Ambassador Sarek and later became an ambassador himself during negotiations with the Romulans."

Your average red shirt from Star Trek TOS. TOS is garbage anyways, deem. Nobody should care about anyone on the show.

"Spearchucker" Jones and "Ugly John" were two doctors assigned to the 4077th MASH in the first season; their departures were never explained (although the actor who played Ugly John later reappeared as another character in one episode).

On Benson, governor's aide John Taylor (Lewis Stadlen) is replaced in season 2 by Clayton Endicott III (Rene Auberjonois); as far as I recall, no mention or explanation was given for Taylor's departure.
John Amos played Howard Gordy, WJM's weatherman on The Mary Tyler Moore Show; he abruptly disappeared after the 1973 season, although he did re-appear for a one-off in 1977, after leaving Good Times, with Gordy returning to the station to reapply for his old job.
Slightly different, but Charles Aidman filled in for an ailing Ross Martin for part of the 1968/69 season of The Wild Wild West, as agent Jeremy Pike. At the time it seemed very possible that he might have become a regular as it was thought Martin, due to heart problems, might not be able to return. However, he did, and Aidman's character disappeared with no further mention on the show.
Gregory Sierra's character of the fiery tempered Sgt. Chano Amenguale exited Barney Miller after two seasons. Oddly enough, for a show usually scrupulous about explaining the departures of regular characters, Chano's departure was never explained and the character was never mentioned again until the final episode.
On Night Court, court clerk Lana Wagner (Karen Austin) and public defender Liz Williams (Paula Kelly) both left the show early on, with no follow-up given as to where they went.

Saved by the Bell - Tori Tori, the run of episodes without Kelly & Jessie. Oddly enough I think the show's finest writing & performances during that brushed over stretch. The 'grade 12' year was done filming including graduation when the 2 girls left to pursue other gigs, leaving a gap in episode numbers or whatever. They ended up producing more episodes with Tori never explaining Kelly or Jessie, & later on of course never again mentioning Tori once they came full circle.

Not without explanation, but Adam (Pernell Roberts) sure was in college for a long time.

Kate Lockley on Angel...big part of the show for the first couple of seasons, then disappeared without any explanation.

The most infamous example I can think of is the older Cunningham brother who disappeared after a few episodes on "Happy Days," but I can think of a few other examples off the top of my head. Can you think of any? Pam Ewing from "Dallas"

My favourite assassin, Mandy (played by Mia Kirshner in the TV series 24), who never resurfaced after Season 4 of that show. Thankfully, her character never reappearing in the show meant that she was still out there somewhere and alive (which not many characters in the show - especially villains - got to remain). Also from the show's 4th season - Behrooz. I remember everyone wondered what happened to that kid since he'd played a rather major part in the majority of the season (but apparently there was a deleted scene which explained what happened to him).

Boy Meets World was full of characters who disappeared without explanation. There was Stuart Minkus, Jason Marsden, Mr. Turner, Eddie Hunter, and even Morgan Matthews for a while.

Remember when Ellen DeGeneres' sitcom first started, it was called "These Friends of Mine" or whatever?
Well, all those "friends" got the axe by season two (except Adam), and the show was retitled Ellen and she had a whole new set of besties.

Ensign Ro Laren in Star Trek the Next Generation. She doesn't exactly disappear I suppose but was such an interesting character. I remember she was originally supposed to be in Deep Space Nine. Michelle Forbes should have done movies.
Ha! She did the voice of Circe in a DC video game intro. She only had one line but her voice was so distinctive.
