What do you all think of "The Matrix Reloaded"? How has it held up after 15 years?
Let's get the negatives out of the way:
-The rave scene, while I don't think it's as bad as people make it seem, does go on too long. And we're teased with PG-13-type sex.
-The scene with The Architect is still pretentious hogwash.
-The fight scene between Neo and Seraph is unnecessary (but at least watchable).
-The visual effects for the multiple Smiths vs. Neo seems a bit dated now (but still an entertaining scene).
As far as the positives go:
-Monica Bellucci
-The freeway chase is still the best part of the movie. Hard to believe a real freeway was constructed just for this whole sequence.
-While the visual effects may be dated in places, they are still good. The fight scenes are entertaining overall.
-You can't fault the sequel for being ambitious. It at least doesn't rehash the first film.
I remember seeing this film in the theater and at the time thinking it was just as good as the first film. While I don't feel that way now, I do think the sequel is still entertaining even though it has its flaws. I think the positives outweigh the negatives in this case.

Even though I pretty much despised this film & was sooooo let down my it, you can't fault the Wachowskis for "cashing in" on creating a franchise out of it. The 1st one was so fucking awesome and was very successful at the box office & on dvd, it left fans wanting more. Its just that the siblings (imo) bite off more than they could chew with the sequel(s) . . I will give credit to them on the highway chase scene . that was intense & well done.

It didnt set well with me. I origanally gave it a 7/10 and now its sits with a 5/10. Basically the first film is the only one that held up.

When I first saw at the Cinema it was total rubbish, the action scenes were dull and so much of the dialogue was gibberish, however when watched on DVD it was much better, the action scenes were exciting and the dialogue made more sense - for some reason it played poorly on the big screen. The FX still hold up fairly well, except for some FX which were dodgy at the time - some FX during the freeway chase for instance. I do quite like Anthony Zerbe in the film as Councillor Hamann, especially his conversation with Neo, it gives you a bit to think about.

I saw it before seeing the original Matrix a few years later. Wasn't as confused as I thought I'd be. But I can't say I found it entertaining. The highway chase is outstanding though and some of the fights are cool looking.

It's great, one of the best sequels ever. It's the third one that sucked.

yeah, I thought it was a very bad movie, but a strangely enjoyable one.
the highway chase was awesome and an action highlight. And I loved the pretentiously vapid architect scene just for the word porn of it. But film was too long and the CGI-clobbering brawls & dance trance travesties were ridiculous.
Still, this was worlds better than the abysmal third film.

Visual effects are dated particular the CGI in the Neo vs Smiths fight but also some cars in the highway chase.
It wasn't horrible but while the first one was revolutionary when it comes to action films, the two sequels never lived up to the expectations. I think I gave it a 8/10 initially but nowadays it's probably a 7/10.

Honestly, it's my favorite of the trilogy. I gave Matrix Reloaded a 6-6.5/10 which makes it within my Top 236 movies where as the other two are just a 6/10(a mild Thumbs Up). p.s. as of July 2012 re-watches... 1st movie was still a 9/10 and the 2nd movie was a solid 8/10. then on a re-watch of the trilogy in Nov 2015 (which is my most recent re-watch of the trilogy) is when it lost most of it's appeal for me. still, Matrix Reloaded is a bit shy of being called a favorite movie.
NOTE: I still have The Matrix (1999) which I think I copied from a rented VHS tape to a blank VHS tape back in the day (I would guess this was anywhere from late 1999 to maybe as late as 2002-ish) and then looked forward to seeing Matrix Reloaded etc. I was a huge fan of those movies for a while at one point. although looking at the tape a moment ago... while I can see the words 'the matrix' on it, it's crossed off so I probably dumped it years ago once I got a hold of a better copy which I remember seeing Matrix Reloaded etc on SVCD back in the day as that would have been I think 2003 or so when I first found out about my DVD player being able to play SVCD's. the movie was spanned over 3 CD-R's in SVCD format ; that's generally around the time (i.e. 2003-ish) when the general volume of movies I watched started to shoot up quite a bit simply because it became much easier to get a hold of a copy of a movie I like with the whole SVCD thing and then not all that long after I switched to XviD(.avi) since my moded original XBox (running XBMC(XBox Media Center)) could play those. basically the SCVD thing did not last long for me before I, and the general internet, dumped those for XviD(.avi) as XviD was basically a good alternative to DVD back in those days and it was basically free ; basically XviD was similar enough to DVD quality (a bit worse but not much) but at a fraction the file size. XviD was typically 700MB or 1400MB(2x 700MB) files where as even a basic DVD (like a standard DVD that could be played in any DVD player) was generally 4.7GB(4700MB) at least and those where not super cheap to burn back in those days etc. it was just all around better with XviD at the time for me. hell, I still have my first DVD burner (i.e. Lite-On 1673S) which the drive has a March 2005 mfg date on it and it still works as recently I got a $20 device that allows me to connect it (it's a older IDE connection) to a USB connection.

Pretty average sequel 5/10. The first half was OK, but the second half was a drag. The movie goes downhill after the Park fight scene.
Revolutions was even worse. The only really good film in the series was the first imo. That's a sci-fi classic.

I do quite like the line "It's like wiping your ass with silk I love it". First film (or thing) I saw Harry Lennix & Harold Perrineau in, those two have since gone on to appear in various other shows.

I don't consider it at all to be honest. The Matrix is perfectly fine as a standalone for me. Perhaps had Resurrection not been such a silly mess, the 2 sequels could've been acceptable.

I loved it at the time, but I was 11 and Revolutions hadn't come out yet to really stink things up.
I did a fanedit of this and Revolutions as one movie that I'm able to enjoy, but otherwise, no, doesn't hold up much.
