More than 100 people walked out of a film today at Cannes saying things like, “vile” and “disgusting” and “vomitive.” The movie was “The House That Jack Built.” But the movie is the latest from Lars von Trier so what the hell did they expect. Also noted, when the movie was over, the people who remained gave it a standing ovation. Choose up sides. I am not only for the people who left; I am with the group who will never go in to start with. This article gives a brief description of the kind of thing to look forward to. The House That Jack Built

In order to judge it objectively I'd have to see those scenes in context. If it's a worthless film, it will be ignored and soon forgotten. It's difficult to imagine it being more disturbing than some of the other films out there.

*Yawn*
Movie doesn't really sound like my cup of tea, but I wouldn't turn down a friend invite to see it either. Regardless, it really isn't news that many Hollywood types are weak of will and stomach.

The scorn of other people might make it seem initially attractive to me, yet I have a feeling that I really wouldn't care for it anyway.

Doesn't sound like my kind of film. I hated Hostel. But film is art even if it can sometimes be "vile." I didn't care for Nymphomaniac and Trier isn't really my kind of filmaker but there are all kinds out there for all kinds of tastes.

Apparently the scene that caused the mass walkout was Matt Dillon blowing the heads off of two little kids.

This dude is like an idiotic Youtube prankster that would cit his own dick off, but because he wears a suit and at same point (I guess before the whole Nazi thing?) he would have been considered a supporter of liberal ideology, he was branded an 'auteur.'
Cannes and the entire concept of "prestigious" film festivals is just elitist trash.

I was legitimately wary about watching this but it ended up being more comical than disturbing. Of course, I opted for the Theatrical Cut as opposed to the titty-ripping Director's Cut, but I still found myself laughing along with Lars on his ultimate trollfest. The "badge" scene...good lorde. 😆

Free publicity! You'd think peeps would be over being shocked by today's cinema. What else can they do that hasn't been shown or done before similar?
