That the Deadpool films don’t take place in the universe as the X-Men are officially dead.
X-Men cameos played by the same actors, time traveling to moments in previous X-films, and Essex Corp is an antagonist.

That cameo was just them filming in the same house while they were also filming Dark Phoenix. For one thing, Deadpool is in modern times, yet they had all the prequel X-men there.

But you can clearly see that everything takes place now. They talk about singers that recently died. And not Deadpool breaking the 4th wall talking about them.

And not Deadpool breaking the 4th wall talking about them. I dunno. For a time travel story it was weird that they stayed clear from mentioning the dates. And the scene was apparently one of the reshoots, so it’s possible that a date was stated but then cut to retcon it closer to the Dark Phoenix.

Perhaps that component is just a meta-joke in of itself. Poking fun at the continuity errors in the films and comics in general.

I think they might be doing a Legion thing where the time to meant be undermined. EDIT: Apparently it was always in the script. www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/deadpool-2/273617/how-that-deadpool-2-x-men-cameo-happened

She's about the right age to be the same Yukio at around the same age as now. Seeing as the main X-men movies were "In the near future" you can add in a few years. Shioli is about 3 years younger than Rila, who played Yukio 5 years ago. It adds up that The Wolverine would have been this year. The only thing about that is that her powers are friggin random. Especially since Yukio is not a mutant and has no powers at all.
That always being in the script would be such a time waster. To get those actors there for a cameo that was just a second is crazy.

I think she is suppose to be playing a teenage since she is dating Warhead.

It didn't really matter to me that this movie, taking place in modern times, showed the prequel X-Men cast with the younger versions of the characters who shouldn't exist that way anymore. It was just a brief (and quite hilarious) joke, not suppose to be taken too seriously. The continuity is already so screwed up anyway and the Deadpool movies love to poke fun at that.

You thinking she is gonna stop aging? Yeah, she was a teenager when she chose that name, but she can be 40 and still keep that name.

Another thing that shows that it takes place now is that there is a huge picture of Obama in the X-mansion.

I would think the fact that the real DP killed the fake DP shows they are in two different realities. But then, Fox X-movies have always had a screwed up continuity.

It was time traveling device, not a multiverse traveling device. Even Wade says that they share the same timeline. And there is no need for a spoiler tag.

That's the thing, though. They showed a picture of Obama and he had a toy of the movie Logan. Those are time period pin points. Logan came out last year. An ambiguous time period wouldn't really have stuff in the movie that would point to something that modern. Legion tries to have things that makes it look like the show is in the 60s, 70s and the 80s. Deadpool actually has references to today. Even Negasonic's phone from the 1st movie.

In Legion they explicitly state dates that would add up to it being set in the 1980s and it has modern technology as well.
