Pros - Harrison Ford in his prime. The mine-cart chase. Just fucking wild. Great production design, especially the Thuggee temple. This line reading - "The British in India will be slaughtered. Then we will overrun the Muslims and force their "Allah" to bow to Kali. And then the Hebrew God will fall and finally the Christian God will be cast down and forgotten." Intense. Despite the violent tone, Spielberg still finds space for great gags. The opening musical number.
Cons - The white savior role is a bit on the nose. The need for Dr. Jones to have a child sidekick. For those who enjoyed the light hearted nature of Raiders, the violent and grim tone may be unwelcome. I'm okay with it, though. Why was Willie spared her heart being ripped out? The visual effects of the oncoming water are a little too obvious. To be fair, water almost seemed tough to make appear convincingly in films of this era. More than anything else, the matte lines are what makes it very obvious. Especially when the characters are in the same shot.

Why was Willie spared her heart being ripped out? With Indy's constantly traveling around the world, wouldn't you expect him to have sidekicks of all shapes and sizes? I personally think Short Round's ok though. He has some funny lines ("Call him Dr. Jones doll!"), some good surrogate father-son bits with Indy, and unlike Willie, he proves to be useful in their escape at the end.
Mola Ram didn't rip Willie's heart out because he wanted to test Indy's devotion to the Thuggees.

Cons...it’s a prequel but doesn’t feel like it.
Pros...It’s not Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Pros - Ford in peak physical form. - Mine car chase. - Quintessential Indiana Jones formula, including sillier than Raiders.
Cons - Lame gross out moments that are laughably dated.
B+ same grade as each Indy sequel for me, my 2nd fav to Raiders.

Pros -
Harrison Ford in his prime and full of charisma Despite his limited screen time (more a fault of the script), Amrish Puri does a good job as Mola Ram.
He's not Marion, Henry. Sr. or Sallah and Marcus Brody (again, more a fault of the writing), but I feel Short Round has his moments and one of the rare cases where a kid sidekick does work.
The funny "Five Minutes" flirtation bit where Indy and Willie are trying to hold out when a Thuggee assassin interrupts
The action sequences (from the Club Obi-Wan opening, the collapsing room with spikes, the voodoo doll fight, mine car ride and rope bridge finale) are all well done and exciting
The shift into darkness in the second half might feel out of place with the slapstick of the first half, but it gets intense and leads to a great buildup when Indy breaks out of the spell and fights back
Cons -
Poor pacing - After opening with a big action number in Shanghai and the life raft escape, the film slows down with exposition and slapstick and doesn't feature any action until the collapsing spiked room. Then the final half hour is just a series of setpieces piled on top of one another with no breaks for character bits. Raiders and Last Crusade did a better job of pacing the story with action spaced out evenly in between the character/story. Temple doesn't do it as well (the villains don't even appear until an hour into the movie) and seems more content to move from scene to scene with little breathing room.
Lack of a solid treasure hunt - The other two film's treasure hunts felt more substantial and were about something: in Raiders, it's about Indy racing against his rival for their biggest discovery that could impact humanity while in Crusade, it's about a father and son reconnecting and rediscovering their love for one another. Temple's is about...what exactly? They make vague references to "fortune and glory", but I always feel like Indy would return the stones anyway. Part of the fun of the other films (even Crystal Skull got this right) is watching Indy crack clues, decipher maps and find his next destination, Temple just has him discover the titular temple by accident and all he needs to do is snatch the stones and rescue the child slaves. They never even have the Thuggees get all five stones, so the battle never has a sense of urgency.
Willie Scott - I hate to beat a dead horse but man, is she the Jar-Jar of this series. I respect they wanted to do something different from Marion, but everything Willie does (from her endless screaming and whining) really grates and not in an amusing way either.

Pros -Mola Ram. -Memorable lines. -More dark than the others. -The bridge scene.
Cons -Doesn't have a clear reason to be a prequel. -If you take Willie out of the picture, Indy may have had a higher chance of winning.

I am OK with Short Round. I am not OK with Kate Capshaw.
Con: way too dark tone and uninteresting story.

Cons
- Weird that it's a prequel as Jones' disbelief in the occult during most of Raiders of the Lost Ark makes no narrative sense after ToD.
- I don't hate Kate Capshaw's performance like a lot of others do. I understood Spielberg's decision not to make her an expy of Marion and some of her fish-out-of-water gags work. Then it becomes overplayed as often happens with this trope.
Pros
- Everything once they encounter the Thuggee. Intense, scary, and the escape sequence is an adrenaline rush.
- Short Round was a cool sidekick. To rescue Indiana Jones from danger of all people, that's what I thought was most exciting when watching this as a kid.
- Its dark tone almost as if it was a horror film. Plot-wise the movie is very similar to Gunga Din (1939) but the setting and Asiatic villains also reminded me of pre-code adventure flicks such as The Mask of Fu Manchu and East Of Borneo.

Pros: Action is okay The eating of animal eyes is a bit funny
Cons: The worst opening sequence in the History of movies. It's not even black comedy and definitely not "likable rogue" when a woman is such a monster she would refuse to let a man dying of poison have an antidote. Definitely in running for sickest and worst opening sequence in History The "heroine" was worse than annoying and sick throughout. Looks to be a trend for monsters like Spielberg. Very forgettable and undoubtedly the worst of the series at 3/10
