IF they are going to make an movie about Obi-wan, then recast! Get someone cool, he is nothing like Alec Guinness.

And why make a movie about him anyway? He only spent his time after Episode III doing nothing and talking to Qui-Gonn who is even more boring. Like Owen said, he was just a dirty old wizard.

Bullshit! He's the best thing about the prequels! Casting wise, McGregor was nearly spot-on.

Bullshit! He's the best thing about the prequels! This. The movie will still be an unnecessary piece of shit, though.

Sometimes he was annoyed with Anakin, including when he was just a kid. On a rare occasion, they were nice to each other. Alec Guinness played Obi-Wan with warmth, humor and wisdom. He was fortunate not to have to say shit like, "This weapon is your life."

Ewan is so cool, and is now the right age to play Obi Wan somewhere between ROTS and ANH. It would be awesome to find out that Obi Wan left Tatooine every once in a while to have an adventure or two.
And now that Maul being alive is UNDENIABLY canon I am dying to see them face off again.
Wait for another Power Rangers movie pal. Trollers gonna troll

Kenneth Branagh. But then, no, they shouldn't be making a Obi-Wan film in the first place.

Kenneth Branagh. But then, no, they shouldn't be making a Obi-Wan film in the first place. He's three years shy of 60, which is close to the age Alec Guinness was when he made Episode 4 (Alec was 62). He's much too old for the role. Having said that...this movie is unnecessary anyway.

How dare you people insult the best Star Wars character and the actor who plays him!

if at blasterpoint I had to name a good acting performance in the Star Wars films, Ewan and Ian (the Scot boys) come to mind first. And I'm not a big fan Ewan in the first place mind you. That being said, the fanboy delirium for Ewan Wan is astounding. Fanboys forget. The three most important things to make a good film are (i) a good script, (ii) a good script and (iii) most importantly a good script. Considering how Han, Pando, Luke, Leia, Akbar, Falcon & Co fared (not too well) , I deem it likely that they will ruin another legend.

I guess it would depend when this proposed film was going to be set? But I also don't think you can't compare actor ages - they had much heavier paper rounds back in ye olde OLDE days so Sir Alec looked much more knackered than Kenneth does now! Total agree that I don't want to see this made anyway...

Hopefully it's a personal decision his part and not him being overlooked.

Part of it is that we're all getting older, so what we view as "old" evolves as we get older too. When I was a kid watching Star Wars in the theater, Alec looked so old. Now? I'm like, "Wow! He looks so young!"
