Pros - Scorcese's style and direction never lacks for energy Unforgiving tone James Woods Joe Pesci is both hilarious and horrifying Great soundtrack that rarely pauses The fastidious nature of De Niro's character is conveyed well - "An equal amount of blueberries in each muffin."
Cons - Will suffer comparisons to Goodfellas, although I argue this is the superior film. Not sure what else I can say as a detractor.

I think Sharon Stone is quite good in this movie. She's meant to be beautiful, yet also cunning and just as ruthless as the male mobsters around her.
One con I would add is that the scenes between her and De Niro fighting in the second half get repetitive. I feel like they could have done without the one in the restaurant.
I think Casino's a great film. It's often knocked as a second-rate Goodfellas, but aside from the presence of De Niro and Pesci playing another pint-sized psycho, the film does enough of its own thing. The city of Las Vegas feels like an actual character and the way the film explores the inner workings of the casino and how it all connects to the mob is quite compelling.

So counting the watch, maybe four thousand for expenses over the weekends, of which you must have had a good time. I know he did. That's for sure. I know that fucking piece of shit had a good fucking time. On my money. You might as well have fucked him, which you probably did anyway. You looking me a certain way. You're teary-eyed. I get it. You're good actress, you know that? Good fucking actress. Can't fucking get that pity out of people. I'm no john. You understand? You always thought I was but I'm not. I'm no sucker. Fucking pimp cocksucker. He's lucky I didn't kill him last time. Lucky he's fucking living. And if you had stayed with him, and you would have run away, you would have been dead, both of you. Dead! Dead!

I much prefer Casino to Goodfellas, maybe because I didn't like anyone in Goodfellas and did like or sympathize with Ace Rothstein. Every guy has a a Ginger in his life at some point.
Cons: the annoying classic rock soundtrack, but that's in most Scorsese movies.

Pros:
- Great performances all round - especially from Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone - Well-directed - An engaging story with never a dull moment
Cons:
- The 3-hour run-time makes it tricky to watch in a single sitting

I love Casino and I won't go over the good parts on which many of us agree. Two small roles which never get mentioned...
Catherine Scorsese - I grew to love it when she appeared in Marty's films. She always has a small role. I get the impression she's not acting. She's just being herself which makes her character genuine. She cracks me up with her facial expressions when she's counting money and her son keeps using foul language.
Erika von Tagen (Amy Rothstein) - It's amusing when she's in the background taunting and annoying Lester. The best one is when Ginger is on the phone and Amy is hitting Lester with her purse. He looks frustrated because he'd like to strangle her.

Cons:
It's bloated and indeed feels too much like a Goodfellas clone. I feel like different actors might have helped to an extent. At least for the character played by De Niro, who feels kind of miscast as a nebbish associate getting slapped around by Pesci anyway.
Pros:
Technically well made and shows the ugliness of both the mafia and casinos pretty effectively. And Stone is completely vile, which fits.

Pros. There are others but to keep it to a few, it's a well made movie and the behind the scenes casino parts were cool to watch.
On the con side. No reason at all for this to have a 3 hr run time. MS is trying too hard and probably thought this was a more important movie than it actually was. I think it actually loses itself to an extent in the second half of the film. Also don't see any reason for a filmmaker to do this movie after Goodfellas, and as such it feels a little cheap and derivative. MS should have put some kind of unique message or spin on it to divorce itself a bit more from Goodfellas. Also Lester Diamond's narrative seemed to sputter out and could have been written better.

This movie could never be made today lol. It shows weak female characters and male dominance over them. Or words to that effect. Misogyny? Lol that's what this film has.

I think Sharon Stone was playing herself and she was good at it.
Good roles for Don Rickles and LQ Jones too.
The only weak part I think is when he is hosting the tv show--feels a little bit of dead weight to me.
Yeah that was funny where the kid was pestering Lester.

Pro - Pesci & DeNiro better here than Goodfellas
Con - Sharon Stone is kinda one trick character. With the hype, I was expecting a deeper character & performance.

I think she played it exactly right. She is first presented as a charming but selfish, even obnoxious hustler. Then when Lester comes into the picture you feel somewhat sympathetic for her since you get a sense of what her previous life must have been like through his telephone dialogue--had to have been bad to end up with a scumbag like Lester. When DeNiro confronts them in the diner you can see how closed off she is psychologically-as if caught between two worlds. Then she gets more and more psycho and messed up.
Turned out to be a better than expected acting counterpart for both DeNiro and Pesci. But from what I hear, she was just playing herself. haha
