Cons - The lack of anything really exciting happening The super kid Keeping in the same universe as the Donner films is an interesting approach but keeps Singer from making his own movie For Superman to land on a giant rock infused with Kryptonite, he should have immediately keeled over Reminding us of a better movie with the opening credits
Pros - Actually making the new man in Lois' life a pretty decent guy. If James Cameron wrote this, he's probably be a dick just to want us to see Lois and Superman together again Making Lex truly hateful of Superman The art deco design of Metropolis Parker Posey

Cons
- Too fucking long.
- Very little action and spectacle to justify its length.
- Brandon Routh is a bland Superman.
- Kate Bosworth was far too young and snippy to play Lois Lane.
- Reducing Lex Luthor, one of the great comic book supervillains, to a real estate obsessed thug yet.
- Giving Kal Penn no dialogue (did he talk? I can't remember).
- A strangely solemn tone that almost never permits any "oomph" to the proceedings. At least the Reeve movies were buoyantly whimsical and Man of Steel seemed like it had a pulse.
Pros
- Kevin Spacey was the best actor to portray Lex Luthor at the time.
- Frank Langella and Sam Huntingdon were a solid fit for Perry White and Jimmy Olsen.
- James Marsden was a likeable cuckold.
- The plane rescue sequence is a legitimately thrilling and exciting action scene.
- Reusing John Williams' iconic score is always a plus.
- From what I remember the visual effects work was...good enough?
- The look of the movie is actually pretty clever. Like this timeless mashup of the present with the 1940s and 70s.

Cons - Kate Bosworth was far too young and snippy to play Lois Lane. - Giving Kal Penn no dialogue (did he talk? I can't remember). Especially if Superman was gone for five years. Kal Penn had one line of dialogue.

I liked most of it. I thought the pacing in the second half, when Lois and her kid were on Lex's boat, was off, too many long scenes that added nothing and disrupted the flow of the film.
I liked Routh, my second favorite Superman/Clark Kent. I loved the effects and the new score by John Ottman.
Some of my favorite scenes in any superhero film are in SR. The airplane rescue, the image of Superman floating in space, being re-energized by the Sun, the raising of the island. Yes, I realize that should have killed him but it was a great scene, Superman sacrificing himself to save the planet and his final flight through the clouds as day was breaking.
I thought Bosworth was a bit young but she didn't really bother me. She was fine. Better than Amy Adams for sure.
Kevin Spacey was very good, too.
The real estate idea would have been fine if it weren't an island of crystals. I don't see how anyone would be paying big bucks to live on that.
I wish they had kept the scene when Superman goes back to Krypton.
I enjoyed this so much more than the Cavill films.

Con Bryan Singer turned Superman into a freaking peeping Tom.

Pros:
-after the Snyder movies, this Superman is looking a lot more likable.
-his alienation (hey-o) and Jesus complex are also comparatively better handled.
-I love the minigun/bullet to the eye sequence
-Lex stabbing Supes with kryptonite and breaking off a piece inside him. Savage af.
Cons:
-Zzzzzzuperman
-Kate Bosworth is astoundingly miscast, especially when you remember her Lois is supposed to be the Margot Kidder Lois.
-another damn real estate scheme, Lex?
-Superman lifting the kryptonite island. No.
-why stick Kumar in there and give him zero lines? "It's f***ing distracting!!!" -Christian Bale
-missed opportunity in a decent shared universe by not connecting it to Batman Begins.
-as arguably the first major soft reboot, it is way too soft. The homages and copied lines and scenes from the original get tired fast.

PROS
It's well made
It has good cgi and some cool action scenes
Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor
Brandon Routh is a good Clarke Kent/Superman
It found the perfect balance of dark and campy
CONS
It's connection to the first 2 Superman movies
Kate Bosworth is very miscast
Lex Lethor is the villain again
It drags at parts and has some pretty dumb writing here and there

Pros: I like Brandon Routh as Clark Kent and Superman Lex Kitty James Marsden character Jimmy Olsen Perry White
Plane rescue scene, awesome!
Elevator scene - Best change ever
I love a lot of scenes from this movie and the characters are very likeable. The score is great.
Cons: Yes, it´s too long About Kate Bosworth, despite she is very miscast, after several rewatches I buy her Lois (similar case: Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes, she is not a great actress, she´s ok, but still I like her Rachel so much).

Con - Awful Lex Luthor & giant battle. - Tries so hard to be like Christopher Reeve it loses any soul at all.

Pros
Brandon Routh wasn't bad as Superman It was an improvement over 'Superman 3 and 4' but not as good as 'Lois and Clark.'
Cons
Another movie with Lex Luthor. Really? Learn how to use another villain. Superman has hundreds to choose from. Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane No Dean Cain or Teri Hatcher (I would have preferred a movie with Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher and it was the perfect time for it.) No ties to Smallville. Disguises itself as a sequel to the Christopher Reeve movies but there are far too many continuity changes for it to connect onto them.
