I decided to watch Batman Forever and Batman & Robin because I was listening to the How Did This Get Made podcast for B&R.
I haven't seen it in a while and I never realized how kind of awesome it was when Batman mentions Superman in the opening scene.
I remember being like "HOLY CRAP BATMAN JUST TALKED ABOUT SUPERMAN", but I had completely forgotten about it.
It's too bad. This could've been the start of a shared universe.

I wonder if there could have been a World's Finest movie in the 90s if Reeve didn't have that accident.

Maybe. Remember that they mention "Superman" in both Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. In Batman Forever, Bruce says that Dick should gas up since Metropolis is such and such miles away. Imagine if they let Burton continue on while adding in Superman. The only thing is that Burton's world looks very different from the real world look of the Superman movies.

Bear in mind that if Batman & Robin was a hit, this meant that we'd get Nicolas Cage as Superman. I actually like Cage but never would I cast him as Superman. Honestly, at the time, I think he'd have been a better fit for Batman. Then I'd probably cast someone like Billy Zane or Brendan Fraser as Superman.

Interestingly enough I remember wanting John Cusack to be Superman in the 90s.

Yes, let us take a moment to be thankful....very...very thankful that Nicolas Cage was never Superman!

Well, seeing as how each of the original films tend to get progressively worse from BM '89 to B&R, it would've been a disaster if they had to do a shared universe. Only a drug addict would find Nic Cage as Superman to be a good idea.
