With the receiving team having to have 8 players near the line of scrimmage I can see plenty of skilled kickers dropping kickoffs in areas where their players can get to the ball first. I foresee a lot of squawking about this and I foresee Bill Belichick being the first coach to come up with ways to defeat this dumb idea.

And I foresee Sean Payton continuing to come up with ways for his players to injure opposing stars for cash rewards.

Good luck to the refs trying to track players as to where they came from before they came together.

So by not allowing people to stack one side they are trying to do away with the onside kick, I guess?
And you can't block or hit another player until the ball hits the ground or is caught... How the fuck do they expect the players to abide by the rule? Or for the refs to enforce it?
Just yet another instance of the NFL making unnecessary changes just to fuck with something that's not a problem.

With this in place, there will be no stopping the Cleveland Browns.

I can't wrap this around my head. Is this going to make for special teams being more important or less important?
Steelers used to have a defensive end named Orpheus Roye who played special teams. He was listed at 6'4" and 330 pounds. He was a wedge buster that just destroyed the blocking for the kickoffs. That player is a fossil now.

I feel like a butt load of yellow flags are going to be thrown at the start of every game because of players not following this procedure.

I'm salivating at the prospect of this becoming a huge fiasco. I hate Roger Goodell and love it when he makes a buffoon of himself.
