No. I think Bird was probably tougher &/or more of an instigator which gave him an edge. LeBron just chokeslams your teammates if you do that today. LeBron is my #2 all time, Bird is probably #6 or something.

They both dominated the game in different ways. Of course I'm partial to Bird because I'm a Boston fan. LeBron doesn't have the same killer instinct Bird had (which is why I still think Jordan was better than LeBron, dude was a straight killer). Bird was mean, arrogant and ruthless-- an honorary New Englander to be sure. All that said, you have to give it to LeBron on overall body of work. What he's been able to accomplish is amazing. The consistency of greatness has to count for something. I do think prime Bird beats prime LeBron one-on-one, but that's not the same thing as being the better overall player.

When we're talking about team sports, you can't simply compare stats, because the variables are not the same. What the rest of the team, as well as what the opposing team is doing, both on offense and defense, makes a difference, and that varies from game to game, too.

Amazing game. I liked this one against Portland even more because of that last second game winner, which I think is the best ever:
His first shot is over none other than the father of Klay Thompson.

I donβt know enough about basketball to have an honest opinion.
But dishonestly, Iβm rooting for the white guy! :/

I'd rank in the top 20, simply because of his numbers.
But his basketball rarely impresses me.

Pfft, LeBron? Is he even the best Cavalier of all time? He just might be. Not my favorite by a long shot.

No, LeBron is better than Bird was. In individual defense, yes, but Bird was better in everything else.

Bird was only better at 3-point shooting and Bird had more help from teammates, but LeBron is better than Bird in everything else and is better overall. LeBron led Cleveland to a championship and Cleveland has nowhere near the talent that Boston had around Bird.

And he didn't have to travel a few times every game.
Bird was also a better team defender.
Lebron is the most overrated player I have ever seen.

Here is a video of Bird in his second year, playoffs game 4 against Chicago and Bird does everything, including a pass that is just jaw-dropping at 2:37:

Sixers mug Bird and take his lunch money It took three Sixers, three HOF Sixers, to take on Larry Bird.
