For movie franchises on the sci-fi fence like Star Wars, I stick to their initial premise being qualified here but no sequels (I prefer JP3 & yet JP1 is the more direct sci-fi vision).
1. Star Wars 2. Back to the Future 3. 2001: A Space Odyssey 4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 5. The Terminator 6. Alien 7. Superman 8. Blade Runner; Final Cut 9. I've bolded the ones I have seen. My very favorite of these is The Time Machine. The one that makes me cry is Starman; I saw it after my husband died and I was going through the same emotions as the widow in the film. So, in no particular order: 2001: A Space Odyssey The Terminator Terminator 2: Judgement Day The Abyss The Time Machine (1960) Blade Runner Fantastic Voyage Close Encounters of the Third Kind Starman the original Star Wars Trilogy all of the Star Trek movies Jurassic Park Jurassic World

Leaving THEY LIVE off the list because I'm not sure there's any fiction in it to make it sci-fi.
Not looking at lists, so off the top of my head, this:
1. THEM! 2. FIRST SPACESHIP ON VENUS 3. UNKNOWN WORLD 1951 4. ROBOCOP 5. THE UNKNOWN TERROR 1957 6. THE LOST CONTINENT 1968 7. THE WAR OF THE WORLDS 1953 8. 12 TO THE MOON 9. ALIENS 10. ISLAND OF THE BURNING DOOMED
11. THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL 1961 12. ISLAND OF TERROR 1966 13. IN THE YEAR 2889 14. DAY THE WORLD ENDED 15. JURASSIC PARK III 16. ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES 1959 17. ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS 18. SILENT RUNNING 19. THIS IS NOT A TEST 20. TARANTULA 1954
Honorable Mention: Starship Troopers Space Probe Taurus Alien It! The Terror From Beyond Space Alien 4 Resurrection Prometheus Crack in the World Jurassic Park Logan's Run Last Woman on Earth The Blob (remake is okay, too, but prefer original) The Day it Came to Earth Q Star Trek V The Final Frontier (easily the best of the series, as it is the only one that makes the lead characters three dimensional and credible) Star Trek III The Search For Spock The Time Machine 2002 (rare instance of remake better than original, but original is very good, too) The Abominable Snowman (with Tucker and Cushing, two of my favorites) Journey to the Center of Earth (prefer James Mason version in its cinematography, but all versions okay) Mysterious Island (all versions have a bit to offer I think)
