I might be tempted to say John Travolta...before Battlefield Earth, Old Dogs, Wild Hogs.

I might be tempted to say John Travolta...before Battlefield Earth, Old Dogs, Wild Hogs. Regardless of what happened after Battlefield Earth, he still had an epic comeback for 5 years that makes Stallone's look silly by comparsion.

I consider everything after 2008 part of the same comeback. His career was only at a low point from the late 1990s to the mid 2000s.

He's came back after a lot of flops where he has been written off as a joke with a huge hit many, many times.
The Stop or My Mom will Shoot fiasco was fixed with Cliffhanger and Demolition Man, after Judge Dredd and Daylight flopped he returned to his serious roots with Copland, AFter Antz flopped he had critical acclaim with Get Carter, after a bunch of flops ending with Spy Kids 3 he Made Rocky Balboa, he's had some #MeToo problems lately and bounced back from them etc

I'd say he just has a very inconsistent career like many actors. Calling Cop Land a bounce back is absurd imo. It just happened to be good movie surrounded by bad movies before and after. Get Carter got awful reviews and bombed big time. Him getting acclaim for that movie is news to me.

There was a time where Stallone was borderline doing Direct-to-DVD stuff. Isn't "Escape Plan 2" a direct-to-DVD sequel?

I guess he'll need another bounce back.

Assuming Creed II is good, I think it will help give his career another boost. Of course he has Rambo 5 and Expendables 4 on the way.

I'm not trying to argue (well, I am actually), I just don't consider one hit once in a while a "career" bounce back.

Lmao. He looks like he's about to cry. Is the first one any good? Sly and Ahnie in a movie together is something I've always wanted to see, but Escape Plan looked like too little too late.

I haven't seen the first one. I agree that they waited too long to be in a movie together. I was surprised to hear a sequel was being made since I didn't recall the first one being a major success or anything like that. But it made more sense when I found out it's direct-to-DVD.

It's kind of fun. You have to have a soft spot for "bad" action movies to enjoy it. I just love seeing Arnold and Sly in a high tech prison together trying to escape. It's what you would call a guilty pleasure.

Is it better or worse than those Expendables movies?

Nobody does it better than Sly. He's the comeback kid.
