I wonder how much IX will underperform on opening weekend compared to Disney's expectations. I might sit that one out, too. Why should I keep supporting these Star Wars films when, one way or another, I end up being disappointed?

I wonder how much IX will underperform on opening weekend compared to Disney's expectations. In her video below, Grace Randolph speculates that: I might sit that one out, too. Why should I keep supporting these Star Wars films when, one way or another, I end up being disappointed? I also sat out "Solo", and currently have no plans to see Episode IX. If Lucasfilm does manage to successfully course correct and put out a real winner, I may change my mind and go see Episode IX. But as of now, "I've got a bad feeling about this."

$83 million. It's well below what they were hoping for. It's even below the acceptable floor. This is obviously the result of fans that they've alienated.

Why should I keep supporting these Star Wars films when, one way or another, I end up being disappointed? It now seems highly likely that IX will underperform. There's no denying that each movie (starting with VIII - TLJ) is trending down more and more at the box office.

[nods] On top of that, many fans were disappointed with how the reveals were handled in TLJ, Finn, Poe and Rose's story felt like filler that didn't go anywhere, and we have little reason to doubt that Rey won't defeat Kylo Ren again. Luke and Snoke will probably stay dead. Phasma is dead... I think? Hux is a joke. Leia will be written out. I hope Lando stays out. What do we have to look forward to? Some slave kid holding a broom? I don't think so...

This is obviously the result of the fans that they've alienated. However, some articles are attributing the result to "Star Wars fatigue". As if the five month gap between "The Last Jedi" and "Solo" was somehow too short to sustain fan interest. Ridiculous. What about the two month gap between "Black Panther" and "Infinity War"? In fact, "Black Panther" even got an "Infinity War" bump as Marvel fans turned them into a double feature. Marvel is successful because they make good movies. Lucasfilm has become unsuccessful because they release bad movies and then insult anyone who dislikes their creative vision.

Thanks for sharing that video. I enjoy listening to Grace talk about Star Wars. I wonder how much Disney hopes IX to do when their writer and director is that hack Abrams. And how the hell is he supposed to undo the damage Rian did in TLJ? Can't wait to see them try to pull this one off. I have a bad feeling about IX, too. At least with TLJ, I saw it just to see how bad it was. And, boy, did it not disappoint! Now I'm easing into boycott mode.

Abrams undoing the damage Rian Johnson did in TLJ is to have Rey wake up on Luke's planet and reveal that all of Episode VIII was a dream!

I'd say it is a lot worse than "soft." $148 million worldwide is a bit of a disaster.

Soft lol. It needs nearly 800m to make a profit. It will be lucky to reach 450m. Its ok, Disney land tickets prices just be raised again.

"Grace" is a misnomer her parents should have called her "Dis-Grace"!!!! Clever , eh?
Calm down Crepy, the fact that Randolph is so passionatelly hated by right & left wing shills speaks for her proffessional integrity. No wonder she is top.

She is hated by most non adolescents because of the never ending stream of garbage emanating from her cakehole. My favorite of the year so far was when she claimed that the movie "Thor," started Kenneth Branagh's career.

Could the weather on the east coast have anything to do with this?
I'm seeing something about flooding in Tennessee. Deadpool 2 is running short of estimates as well

You are missing out. I have seen it twice I found it more enjoyable than any of the Disney Star Wars Yeah, Rogue One had the most tragic scene, (Mads Mikkelsen's death), but this one is great I've watched two detailed spoiler reviews. This one said it was good, but not great: This one gave it a 2/10 rating, said there were only two good scenes in the entire movie: Neither review makes me want to see the movie.

Like so many others have said, I never asked for this movie. I am curious enough to eventually rent it on DVD from Netflix. I've gotten to the point where I don't want to continue giving my money to Disney while Kennedy is in charge and while we keep getting sub-par Star Wars films. I am not impressed with TFA, TLJ or Rogue One.
