You are missing out. I have seen it twice I found it more enjoyable than any of the Disney Star Wars Yeah, Rogue One had the most tragic scene, (Mads Mikkelsen's death), but this one is great I've watched two detailed spoiler reviews. This one said it was good, but not great: This one gave it a 2/10 rating, said there were only two good scenes in the entire movie: Neither review makes me want to see the movie. Do you listen to these guys much? I listened to about 10 minutes of the second & nothing on the film? Just he's whispering in the basement because the others are asleep upstairs? Basement dweller? Why am I supposed to listen to a review that rivals the movie time? 1 hour 45 minutes? The first is also 45 minutes long? He took notes, but screws up half the stuff? He was SENT on a job by Lady Proxima, a caterpillar who is basically Fagan in the lawless zone. She takes in orphans & runaways so they do jobs for her-pickpocket, theft, etc. The words on screen tell up the universe is made up of gangsters fighting for turf while the Empire is forming. The prize everyone wants is coaxium, ship fuel. Proxima sent Han with some to sell but they crossed him. No cash. No Coaxum, except he pocketed a vial before they beat him up. He & Qi'ra have been planning to escape somehow, get offworld & get their own ship. When he returns to Proxima's lair, her goons grab him to drag before her. They have searched him, but not Qi'ra so they don't get the Coaxium. I tend not to like these guys, but they offer more back & forth. The one dude is wrong, though. Han does grow. He is around 22 in this film from what I've read-that they are making Han the age of Harrison Ford in A New Hope. This film takes place between the 3rd prequel & Rogue One. This is Han losing his baby fat, his innocence, or what remains of it. Think about it. he is betrayed by his mentor, Beckett to the point he shoots first like in a New Hope. He is betrayed/ripped off by Lando constantly. He is actually a good enough gambler he wins the Falcon twice, but Lando had a card up his sleeve. Luckily Han steals it the second game so when Lando goes for it, Han has it. Yet Han doesn't use it to win.
And the girl he is doing it all for? Leaves. Lies to his face. "I'm right behind you". Leaves
It's school of hard knocks

Do you listen to these guys much? The first guy I've never watched before or since. The second guy I've seen more frequently, and his "review" was a recorded livestream, rather than a typical review video. However, he did recap the entire plot and give a rating so I included it here.

Like so many others have said, I never asked for this movie. I am curious enough to eventually rent it on DVD from Netflix. I've gotten to the point where I don't want to continue giving my money to Disney while Kennedy is in charge and while we keep getting sub-par Star Wars films. I am not impressed with TFA, TLJ or Rogue One. What the HELL is this "I never asked for this movie" WHO ASKS FOR ANY MOVIE? I DIDNT ASK FOR THE FIRST ONE, BUT I LOVED IT. I didnt ask for Jurassic Park, but I enjoyed it. I didnt ask for Thor. Hell, I was sure they were going to mess up royally. I was horrified they were going to play him for laughs. I discovered Thor when I was 6. I was daddy's girl. I told my daddy about Thor & he told me our people came from Denmark so they probably worshipped Thor back there. Thor & my dad both stood around 6 ft 7. Thor is a protector. I loved the movie. I was going to see it later, like a week or 2, but my child saw it with a friend at a special showing so I went that first Saturday...and fell in love. The MCU was wonderful & noble. Sincere. When I saw Star Wars, I fell for Han. Luke was boring as crap. When Han flew away, I was devastated. That wasn't who he was. Then at just the right moment-yeah! I have been waiting for this film. YOU didn't ask for it? Well, I did Very possibly before you were born. Why should your desires outweigh mine?

The second guy admits to recording in the basement while everyone sleeps which makes one think of that guy who was sued by his parents to get out of their basement. The second guy admits to recording in the basement while everyone sleeps which makes one think of that guy who was sued by his parents to get out of their basement. The second guy is Ethan Van Sciver who has been a comic book artist for twenty-five years. He records in his basement late at night because he lives with his wife and children.

He doesnt present well. As i said, i stopped 10 minutes in because he was talking about everything but the movie. And at, what 105 minutes, he's rivaling the length of the movie.

So i randomly jumped up, ended at 45 minutes & he is describing the end. So he rants for an hour? He's pissed they didnt do his idea? He's pissed the actor doesnt look like Ford? He sounds like a whiney little bitch, to paraphrase Bill Maher. Han doesn't learn? Mr Sciver doesnt pay attention. My collection ends around 1990 so I probably dont have anything by him. Not to mention i was not a fan of the titles he worked on. He wanted Enfys Nest to be Han's mother That isnt the story they told. The girl we meet isnt necessarily the first. She speaks of her mother wearing the mask before her so the vibe I got was more...dread pirate Roberts? Not the same...Phantom? That the person under the mask is less important than the rallying point of it. They are the starting point of the rebellion. Hydra? Cut one down, another takes its place? Yes, one of the weaker bits was Lando in love with the Robot, but she also, as was mentioned, possessed the best navigation charts in the galaxy so he couldn't wipe her or he would lose the charts. And she died for her stupidity. I cant believe he is a good comic book writer. Better just be art because one has to listen to the ideas of others. Books have a past. The new team cant just chuck out everything the last team did. He misses the subtleties because he is locked into his vision of what he wanted. I mean, hell, i have seen art in comics where i cant tell who is who outside of the colors of the outfits. He's bitching the lead doesnt look like Ford. He has come into books. His art surely looks different from the other artist. Han changes. That this artist cant see it doesnt speak well for his skills.

YOU didn't ask for it? Well, I did Very possibly before you were born. Why should your desires outweigh mine? What the hell does "I never asked for this movie" mean? Simple. It means the movie in question is the last thing a lot of fans wanted. Han Solo is an iconic character that many of us didn't want to see recast. I'm not surprised it's struggling in theaters. Who asks for any movie? Well, a number of fans have been begging for an Obi-Wan, Black Widow, Black Panther and Wonder Woman film for years. At least we sometimes get what we want. Those examples aside, of course most of us don't ask for movies before they're announced. That's not what I'm talking about. Lol. You need to relax. Why are you so threatened by the opinions of others? I don't care what you think of Solo. That's your business. Obviously a number of fans were excited or happy about Han getting his own movie. Cool. More power to you. I'm not talking about you guys here - just my opinion. While I never asked for a Solo movie, I made it clear that I wouldn't judge the film until I saw it. Yes, that's who Han Solo was. He was a selfish jerk. Han SOLO - he looks out for himself. Sticking his neck out for Luke during ANH's climax was the first major step in Han's arc. He did it because he cared, not because of the money. LEIA: I knew there was more to you than money!

My kid wants to see Hereditary. Don't think anyone asked for it to be made. My kid wants to see The Meg. Don't think anyone asked for it to be made We enjoyed The Conjuring, though I doubt anyone asked fir it to be made. We enjoyed Colossal though I doubt anyone asked for it to be made. We enjoyed Get Out, though I never saw that anyone demanded Jordan Peele had to quit Key & Peele to make the film. Do I need to go on? I believe a majority of films are made without any demand from the viewing public If they made a film of Ka-Zar, I would not be adverse to it. I would LOVE a Namor movie. Did we ask for new Jurassic Park movies? Just because we got Dr Strange & Hulk is in the MCU as is Valkyrie, I'm not holding my breath we are going to see the Defenders as they existed in the comics I collected. I don't expect to ever see Tomb of Dracula as it existed in the comics. I loved Hannibal King. I just find that "we didn't ask for it" to be so damned arrogant. It seems to be a common bitch from Star Wars Fanboys. Why the hell are they so damned entitled? No. Leopards don't change their spots. They have to have that good heart in there somewhere. My clients are convicted felons. Some we can move away from that life. Some we can't. The ones we can are the ones who have a reason not to return to that life. I spoke with half a dozen people today. One seems on her way out of that life. Another I believe isn't going to mess up. One is definitely not changing-he thinks he's scamming us, but we know. The others? I won't be surprised if they stumble. They still seem likely to make poor choices when they hit a pivotal spot. Star Wars was inspired by the old serials, remember? Han was a pseudo bad guy. He's the bad on the outside/heart of gold on the inside character. The black hat who sacrifices himself to save the kids. Han is a good guy at heart. Lando is more of a cad. As the argument ran in Solo-Han says he's an outlaw. Qi'ra says no, he's a good guy. He's trying to sell he's hard, but he's not. Like she told Enfys-he was going to help them Han is a good guy in A New Hope.

Just as there are people who hear of upcoming movies and respond with great excitement or indifference, sometimes people are against them for whatever reason. This isn't about Han being a good or bad guy. It's about him being selfish. That's why he flew away in ANH. That's who he was. Han's arc was in gradually becoming less selfish - less solo. First, Luke (ANH). Then Leia (ESB). Then the Resistance (ROTJ). Are you arguing that Han was a good guy from the start or that he became a good guy by the end of the film?

Saying I didnt ask for this film has become a common refrain among fanboys. So what. They have to poll everyone to see what can be made? I saw it about the last Ghostbusters which I enjoyed. Guess what? The new film doesn't erase the old film. I can get Clash of the Titans on Vudu for $13 for either version. The Prequels didn't erase the original 3 Star Wars movies. Lucas did. He tinkered with them & so far as I know they don't sell the actual 1977 version. Your take. He isnt "solo" He has Chewie His arc was not to close himself off. To join up with others. As we see in Solo, he is betrayed again & again. Pretty much everyone given a chance. Val wants to kill him. Rio's ok, but doesnt stick around long enough Beckett betrays him Qi'ra betrays his trust Lando cheats & betrays him. By the end of the film he has learned to have a back-up plan. And is on his way to expecting everyone to betray him Yes. He was a good guy. Life made him distrust everyone except Chewie. The farmboy. The crazy wizard The Princess. Maybe they help him return to who he was. A redemption Wow. Maybe that's what I love about him. I love redemption stories. Thor. Greatest Showman

I didn't hate it, I guess. Even though this movie was mostly generic and some of the creative choices were downright terrible (i.e., the Empire gives Han his name, Maul showing up with no explanation) , I only shrug my shoulders at Solo. It's actually fun if you forget the title character is supposed to be Han Solo. It isn't great, but nothing compares to the putrid pile of shit that was The Last Jedi.

I don't need you to tell me what to think. No, they don't need to poll anything, but fans are entitled to their own opinions, whether you agree with them or not. Clearly the other films aren't erased, but I'm only focusing on this one when I say I didn't ask for it. No. Not my take. the OT clearly shows Han becoming less and less selfish. There's a reason why Han originally chose to take the reward money and run rather than stay and fight from the start. I'm not talking about Han's arc in Solo but rather in the OT. The only person he thought would betray him was Lando. Even then Han trusted him enough to give him a chance. Han may not have believed in the Force, but that didn't mean he didn't trust Obi-Wan to pay him the money. When did Han ever distrust Luke or Leia? You really think Han was portrayed as thinking they might betray him?
