Matt - Jack mentioned that when his ship, LST 121 had returned to Pearl Harbor to reload for an imavasion, "Long Ago and Faraway" was the first song he heard when they hit port. He was there for the West Loch Disaster in May1944, so the timing fits being about a month after COVER GIRL was released.
It is one of my favorites.
Spike Jones also went to my high school, but "Der Fuerher's Face" doesn't quite have the right feel for the day!

Hey, matt. Maybe I need new glasses, too (probably do), but I think I'm missing in the final scoring above.  Of course not, Spider -- how could I ever forget you. Check again -- there you are, shiny and bright as always. (actually I spotted the unintended exclusion even before seeing your post)
