Nothing can be a learning experience anymore. Nobody can fuck up, realize they fucked up, apologize, and try to do better. It's an immediate death sentence. This is the world we live in. sad part is, this all could have been prevented if she was disciplined for 1990.

Well, I've never liked Roseanne, the show or the person, but canceling a show for a statement someone made on her own time (and then apologized for) seems a bit harsh. Awful statement, though. I ultimately agree. What she said was awful, but cancelling such a hit show seems like a bad move. I think they should have just fined her and suspended her for a while too. They probably could have done an episode or two without her. Plus, they could have pushed the season premiere to 2019 in order to give the series more breathing room between this incident. It was probably more of a knee-jerk reaction on ABC's part. However, I doubt the show would have survived. Emma Kenney quit the show (though it had already been cancelled) and more of the cast probably would have followed suit.

Ironically, it was more Sara Gilberts show about the Connors than Roseanne's. I enjoyed it, watched all the episodes, and I am a dyed-in-the-wool liberal. After the first episode setup, it was barely political. Roseanne (the character) even got her comeuppance when the Muslim family she feared turned out to be extremely nice (had gotten a huge order of fertilizer by accident). This...all the way! It was perplexing that Roseanne in episode 1 made it clear where her character stood on our president...but then that was pretty much it. And the odd thing was, the show went on to be very socially liberal from the possible transgender grandson, to defending the Muslim neighbors from bigotry. Roseanne the actress was spouting off all these views that were completely contrary to what her show was selling...so to speak. She (the actress) may be espousing conservative ideas and supporting Mr. Trump...but her show really wasn't. And yes...it was Sara Gilbert who was really making that show work.

Never watched a single episode of her show (the reboot or the original). So couldn't care less, in terms of missing the previously planned season that has been axed.
However, I think canceling the show was overreach for the particular faux pas that provoked it.

No one made her write planet of the apes. There is no way auto correct was involved. Second, I am so sick of being embarrassed by other white people. I am glad she is being disciplined (finally).

Hmmm why does this sound so familiar? Didn’t Tim Allen make a joke about how you can’t be a republican in the media industry and his show got cancelled right after that even though it was doing well in ratings? They cancelled both shows because of their views. This is hilarious--you just admitted in a public space that racism is a core element of Republican ideology. Thanks!

Last Man Standing was 100% a Conservative show, but that has nothing to do with this. Rosanne made a terrible remark and deserved to be fired. The end.

This isn't the first time she's said something racist on twitter. So if anything, it's Roseanne who can't learn. That's the world she lives in.

If she were fired, the show would go on without her. The 300 people who work on it, likely more left than right, who actually need the money and were due for a raise as the show had been renewed, are out of a job. Bet more than a few had turned down other work.

Not only that, the syndicated show has been pulled everywhere, so the residual checks stop.

First-the difference between what Roseanne tweeted & the late night talk show hosts-was racism. If she wanted to go on & on about her political beliefs that would have been fine. But for Disney it was not in their core beliefs-thus canceling. Hello, we are talking DISNEY. Second-LMS's cancellation may or may not have to do with politics, but we don't know what the contract was between ABC & the show. Undoubtedly there were stipulations which may have been violated. And-why cancel the show? They had two writers out the door already, with one actress about to quit. There was something going on, & this was the nail in the coffin.

Trump's take on her racism:
He's a bitter, insecure, narcissistic old man with low self-esteem, a constant need for approval, a complete lack of accountability, and the inability to accept the truth. He long ago lost any capability for self-reflection and self-improvement.

Her actions effected everyone involved with the renewal and although I feel sorry for them this IS what you get when you hang out with assholes.
