I can't seem to find anything about it on google but according to IMDb it's been announced??? m.imdb.com/title/tt6460852/Claims it's coming in 2018. And I don't know who the hell that is playing Freddy but looks like Robert Englund isn't in.

While loving both franchises, it just isn't Freddy with out Robert Englund. He's played the character for ages, so I more than understand his wanting to move on to other things...in spite of the fact that he's gone out of his way to portray the character for his fans. Very much like how Jim Varney did with Ernest...at least according to my observation.
Who's the next slasher? That's what I want to know. Someone's got a cool idea...I want to see that. "It Follows" and "The Babadook" have me convinced. Freddy and Jason deserve to have a weekend at the spa...who's the next guy?

I thought the remake of "Nightmare on Elm Street" was going to knock it out of the park with Jackie Earl Hayley as Freddy, but it was pretty disappointing to me. I think Freddy can really only be pulled off by Robert Englund. I mentioned the last two movies because I found them refreshing to the horror genre. Just got surprised by "Lights Out" too...highly recommend checking that one out. I'm ready for a new villain. Jigsaw was interesting, but someone more like Freddy, who's more center-stage. Examples like Jason, Michael Meyers, Pinhead, Chucky, Ghostface...even Angela Baker from the "Sleepaway Camp" series. Some guy/girl who'd look really freaky on a VHS cover. I love slashers...keep 'em coming...just want some new baddies in the mix.

Well last I heard I think Robert Englund said he wasn't going to be Freddy again cause he was getting old. This was a while back so I'm not surprised he's not in this just saying I have no idea who the new guy is.

I loved Freddy vs. Jason. Yes, I know it was a cheesy film, but I found it to be wildly entertaining. I also thought that Haley did a great job as Freddy in the remake, but the movie was just average. Freddy needs more humor. That is just the kind of villain he is.

Oh god that guy didn't even scare me , and the movie just seemed pretty dumb .Original Nightmare on Elm St was scary , fun , intense and it had humor. I want to be scared again . When the saw movies first came out I couldn't even watch the trailer On-Demand my brother would lock me in his room and turn the movie on took me almost 10 years to watch any Saw movie and when I did I was hooked . Hell-raiser is another scary one and The end of " Sleepaway Camp" I had to look behind myself like I was in danger or something... I also like Phantasm , Killers Klowns and my fav Trick or Treat . They dropped the ball on Trick or Treat this is the movie that needs a sequel !

I disliked it initially because I didn't like how they invented this"fear of water" bullshit to weaken Jason to even up the matchup. That being said, if I let that go and watch it for what it is, it's a fun ride....

That being said, if I let that go and watch it for what it is, it's a fun ride.... I thought it was great too, because it doesn't take itself too seriously. It takes a little time to get going, but there is some cool imagery throughout. I loved the over the top boiler room set and Jason in the cornfield. I feel like they did both characters justice, not picking one over the other. I wish the sequel was "Freddy AND Jason." Seems like they could bury the hatchet (or machete?) shake hands and be murderous in tandem...kind of like a morbid Jay and Silent Bob. That's probably a dumb idea... I remember it being a common thing to speculate whether Freddy could take Jason when I was a kid on the playground. It was fun to see it come to life the way it did. Felt like a love letter to the fans in many ways. I'd see a sequel if it looked like it would be as much fun as the first.

I feel like they did both characters justice, not picking one over the other. I don't know if I agree on that. I feel they compromised Jason a bit to even the odds on the matchup....

I do agree with you there and with the fear of water thing being pretty lame. The writers had their work cut out for them with Jason being a mute and Freddy known to be talking all the time...even chewing the scenery later in his movies. Where I think they got it right was Jason getting to be truly brutal at times...again that cornfield scene, he gets to smash it up good. He beats the hell out of Freddy too, particularly when they're in the real world. They lost it a bit at the climax for me, Freddy beefed up a bit and being able to withstand unbelievable beatings. The very last scene sums up why I like it though... spoilers... Jason unstoppable and hulking to his next group of victims while Freddy's head is smiling and hamming it up. For the most part, I think they got it right.

Bring it on baby! I like 'Freddy Vs Jason' with Monica Keena but there's only one Robert Englund.
