there is an art teacher at work who is an ATR (a reserve teacher and all schools have to house a certain number) and she is really weird and kind of scary. anyway she and i recently started a 'not that close' friendship and i have to totally get out of it now. i was setting next to another ATR during lunch today who [he's a guy] is 'into me' but he is respectful of me and my professional boundaries. anyway...
later on she comes up to me and says in a small group though we were not all talking together...
'youd better watch yourself sitting next to him. he might subconsciously impregnate you.' [swear to god!]
i stop what i am doing and look up for a second... say quietly to her, in a semi stern tone: do you realize how you talk to people?
she says it again as if i just didn't hear her.
so i repeat: do you realize how you talk to people and how inappropriate you are?
and then i walk away.

Lol/...some people just don't understand how to speak in public. What she said isn't even funny although she might have some mistaken beliefs about her sense of humour.

Wow. That is very strange to say the least and to think this person is a Teacher is kinda disturbing. Is it possible she has had something happen to her in the past few years that might make her act that way?

'youd better watch yourself sitting next to him. he might subconsciously impregnate you.' Sounds like she was trying to flirt with him without directly addressing him. I bet she wants him to clap her erasers.

What a weirdo. That comment doesn't even make any sense and isn't funny or clever at all.
Avoid that person.

You get a DUI you get removed from your school. How can conscious behavior like this be okay? Normal? PROFESSIONAL?

It's like some people don't even get obvious stuff like that as it's not something you can say to someone you don't know well especially since it's a teacher and you would think they would be more professional about that sort of stuff. it sounds more like something a random teenage student (and the like) would randomly say to someone else as while that would be bad enough, it would be easier to overlook because of their age. but with a teacher, they are held to a higher standard. but I am glad you called her out. but sadly, she just don't get it and it was in one ear and out the other and what's worse you said it twice and it still did not sink in. like she's blind on how to talk to a person. I am not that great at talking to others I don't know but I damn sure ain't going to fail on obvious stuff like that. it will be interesting to see if she continues to do that stuff in the future to you.
but another thing... since we were not there we probably can't see all of the details like you did with her being weird etc but either way what was said just seems like a bad idea in general especially coming from a teacher and not only that you don't know the person well enough for her to make random off the wall remarks like that. but if they person comes across a bit weird etc along with that comment, it's just going to make it that much worse. p.s. she's lucky she's a female as if a male teacher said that comment (or something similar) to a random female teacher, and the person wanted to push things, I could see that comment getting them into decent trouble with the way people are nowadays.

RYOUSERIOUS? THIS IS A SCHOOL! ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! THIS IS APPROPRIATE FOR ANY PROFESSIONAL SITUATION? WHAT THE HELL??? also, she is not my friend! where did i ever say she and i were friends???? In fact, i was wary of her when she came aboard, now i know to remain wary of her! god, nora! srsly, if you don't see the problem with this then maybe you are this TEACHER!

deembastilleDamn, elementary school makes one a little paranoid as what is she teaching to kids etc when no one is looking(?). p.s. I feel sorry for kids being "taught" (i.e. brainwashed) in today's schools. general standards have really dropped off quite a bit vs not all that long ago (say 20 years ago or so). I am glad I was not raised with all of the BS they are pushing nowadays in public schools as they are backwards in pushing what's not normal as normal and it's having it's (negative)effect on these really young generations who are pretty much pro-immoral nowadays. I would not let it get to you too much as this place is full of liberals who lack common sense.

She sounds like she is off her own planet. Very difficult type of person to interact with. Just avoid.

That is nowhere as weird as the story I heard about a teacher who worked in the Vancouver school district and had a co-worker who was obese and regularly used their underwear as a port-a-john.

I don't even know what she means by that comment, to even make much sense of it and although weird, it does also sound a bit innocuous though. You perhaps needed to ask her for clarification, to see if she could explain what she meant. Perhaps she is jealous of you deemy.

YEAH, I'm gonna have to go ahead and ask you about that... what do you mean she is jealous of me? and also: how can anyone get subconsciously pregnant? i never even had any sort of conversation with her even remotely close to that at all -- this is an elementary school after all! and i did ask her kind of: my code of: do you realize how you talk to people? was essentially code for 'come again?' i gave her a polite chance before i told her she was inappropriate.

It appears that she has pushed a button of yours, otherwise you wouldn't be on here seeking approval for how you feel and her comment. Had you mentioned to her previously about the other teacher who is into you? Perhaps that is what has sparked a bit of jealousy in her.
