First season was about a six for me. I only watched it because it had the brand name "Star Trek." It started getting better after than, but then I didn't like the second doctor they brought in. Her dynamic with Data got old fast. The first episode that I really enjoyed as much as original Trek was the one with the alternate universe Enterprise and Tasha Yar. After that I was pretty much sold on the series, except for a few reservations, like having kids on the Enterprise, and the continued portrayal of Klingons as idiotic space barbarians. Nevertheless it was proper Trek with interesting sci-fi concepts explored in almost every episode, except for the action-dominated ones featuring Romulans and Borg, which were great in their own way. Later seasons would probably get from a 7 to 8 for me.

Later seasons would probably get from a 7 to 8 for me. I never liked the Borg that much. Teier introduction was interesting, but the more you learned about them, the more boring they became. With Voyager thay have finally become a laughing stock - once a nightmare that could trash an entire fleets with ease (=> Wolf 359 - 40+ capital ships of Star Fleet, many of them far stronger than the Voyager), was now - as entire collective - at the mercy of one middle sized Star Fleet ship. And the Voy crew was smarter an more resourceful than the entire science and tactic wing of Star Fleet (save from all the other species in the Alpha quadrant). The Romulans however were always a great joy (until they came up with these bat-lizzard things from Remus - thankfully in one of the movies only). But TNG was at its best, when it was not about action, but about interestings ideas: The Inner Light or Darmok. Then it was the best Sci-Fi can deliver imho. Hence overall a nine for the sake of this really groundbreaking episodes.

7.5/10
A good show but very uneven. The first and last seasons (save for the terrific series finale) weren't very good. Season 2 was underrated and S3-6 were all good. Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner and Michael Dorn (who was better utilized on DS9) really carried the show for me.

1: 6 rocky start, although i like how they started at the beginning of their journey with a new ship and not like 'we are joining them in the middle.' they all learned about each other as we learned about them.
2: 4: got rid of doc crusher but kept wes [?] and replaced doc crusher with doc crusty. okay, i will say crusty was MUCH BETTER with bedside manner and getting 'guests' to trust her, but disliked how 'racist' she was with data. Guinan was awesome and made the mayor of obvious town [troi] obsolete.
3: 7: we hit a good stride. we had more fun. doc crusher is back and then we have interesting characters like barklay, holodeck use and misuse, a bit of 'realism' was given to the characters. no one can be perfect so let's have some realism.
4: 8: we have picard come back from his stint with the borg and he gets sent home to mother. or his brother. and then comes some playful grape throwing and stuff. good to see some realism and remembering where the hell you come from. a few good data eps. love to see him 'date' although i could have seen his significant other going all lifetime movie on him later on.
5: idk: i don't own this season on dvd: can not find this for love or money anymore in barnes and noble for some bizarre reason [they have all other seasons]. ok: 7-8 now we see some lifetime movie style freakiness. that and true sci-fi. space ghosts, sex games, ro ro ro your boat. the only thing i had a problem with was that apparently 'best episode ever' ep of THE INNER LIGHT. i get the reason why the ep was made and 'why it is considered BEE' [remember us. we were here. we mattered.] but it was just executed wrong. from the laughable makeup to the annoying as hell wife, srsly. not buying it.
6: 8 continue with the lifetime sci-fi freakiness with alien thieves, transporter oppsiedoos, that cute as hell Q girl, hologram malfunctions again, other cultures still doing barbaric shit with their elders who are otherwise fine, another will riker to spread his KIRKNESS.
7: good they ended at the end of this season. i can not see this show going on and on like Dallas. so 7: datas mom, troi's secret sister, ghost sex [that was like a vc Andrews novel come to life!], warp speed is harmful!, data wearing a silver foiled paper plate! picard's secret son [?], Wesley's back and behaving like a 14 year old brat, ro is back with her stupid earring. and it all comes together with time shifting. nice way to close things up. really.

I'll give it a 7/10 overall. The first season was just terrible. I am amazed it was renewed it was so bad. The series got better and I even enjoy some of the episodes in the middle seasons. Not enough to buy them, though.
The cast was mostly meh. I thought Stewart was very good as Picard, though I would not want him as my captain.
I liked Spiner as Data.
Everyone else? I could have done without, especially Worf. Whoever decided to turn Klingons into mindless bimbos? Macroheads with the microbrains?
Q was great. I enjoyed him every time he appeared.
My favorite moment in the entire series? When Lore beats up Worf in the turbolift. Oh, that was great. If only he had killed him. Oh well.
