5/10
Great start but it started to go downhill once Jennifer Lawrence's character arrived. The Laurence Fishburne character was a waste. Sheen was good as the robo-bartender. The ship was incredible. The effects, too. And the idea that any company would not have any system in place in case someone awoke early is a bit too far-fetched. Worth a rental.

This movie is unfinished. 2/3 of the movie is good, but then the 3/3 of the movie is rushed and filled with nonsense, including the useless short participation of Laurence Fishburne and Andy Garcia. It's obvious that the studio didn't want to finish the movie and created the whole 3/3 of the movie from unused cuts from the floor.

That ending might have been good enough for "La La Land" but not a sci-fi film I just invested two-and-a-half hours in.

8/10
Pratt and Lawrence were good, he moreso than her; Sheen, as the duplicitous straight-outta-The Shining robot bartender was fun to watch; great visuals.
For once, the studio having the guts to leave out one detail in the trailer was a good idea.

For a split second, I thought that Arthur was going to become a psycho robot!

Solid storyline, good director, great cast, and the end really does get to you.

it's a movie ill re-watch at this point so i can't give it less than a 6/10 and that's what i gave it is a 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) as i like it but it's nothing special. basically it's partially carried by Pratt/Lawrence and kinda the general style of the movie. in fact, it's probably my favorite Jennifer Lawrence movie as it's between this and probably the first hunger games movie. conspirologisti wonder if there is going to be any sequels(?) and maybe Andy Garcia will be in those? because if not then i would agree with you it's pointless to get someone like him to play that very small part at the end as they should have just went with a random unknown person for it if no sequels are planned.

Loved this movie! It also made me a fan of Michael Sheen - who I'm watching now in NOCTURNAL ANIMALS.

A big, honking disappointment for me. The premise of the movie sets up a major moral dilemma worthy of "The Twilight Zone," that is, should the protagonist wake another passenger for (sexual) company knowing that it will force her live the rest of her life on a spaceship. Even though he is eventually discovered, the ramifications are soon forgotten by a convenient crisis that forces the two leads to work together. We're left with Hallmark card philosophy about making the best of your situation when it could have been so much more.

I'm new here and don't know when/how to alert to spoilers. So: SPOILERS!!
The bartender, duplicitous? I don't think an android is capable of such - plus he didn't "tell" until he'd confirmed with Jim that he & Aurora had no secrets from each other. His "mind" takes things literally; he was incapable of perceiving Jim's "confirmation" as being duplicitous.
I could *not* believe that Jim woke her up, and she forgave him. He absolutely *did* steal her life from her; he sentenced her to life imprisonment - tho it was a nice prison - with him, and only him. What if they'd been unable to stand each other?? Would he have cruised the pods for another PYT to be his putative life partner? And maybe felt obligated to help Aurora wake up a guy *she'd* picked to take a shot at? And if the #2s were non-starters - now that could have been interesting!
But seriously; he should have woken up the Captain, or another member of the crew - at least once he had Gus's ID. I don't think he could get to them before. Better that an employee of the company pay the price for the ship's malfunction. So initially, he could have spent that year reading through everyone's bios looking for someone with experience with such a ship, instead of drinking. Then again, all the problems with the thing just suddenly stopped on their own, right? Love conquers all and blah blah blah. VERY contrived!! (And I briefly thought we'd see J & A's great-grandchildren greeting awakening passengers, but quickly realized the - ahem - biological implications of this.

i was pretty underwhelmed. between the unremarkable romance and untapped dramatic, ethical or scientific aspects this one really left a lot to be desired.

I love plots where the woman falls in love with her captor. There's something sexy and passionate about that!

It suffered from erratic pacing. I get they wanted to portray the concept of being utterly alone and desolate, but it could have been accomplished in less time. There were some uneven parts, but I like Lawrence, and thought she did a good job. The effects were spectacular. Overall, I'd give it a 5/10. Can't believe I didn't even bother to rate it on IMDb! I'll do that now.
EDIT: Oh, I did rate it!
