My opinion is basically the same. It's rare that I change my opinion on a film. If I do, I don't change it much. There have been exceptions I'm sure.

I only gave it a 5/10 upon seeing it for the first time but I dropped it to a 4/10 now. Its a film the more you think about it the less I like it. Mainly I hated what they did to Luke.

My appreciation for it sort of waned a little bit.

I lowered it from 6.5 to 6 since December, serviceable yet unimaginative. Subversion of expectations in lieu of originality and good writing. Still, some parts work for me and it is thus better than Force awakens.

It wasn't a terrible movie, in fact the nostalgia was nice and high. There were some good performances (Laura Dern rules!) and some powerful moments based on one's love for the first trilogy from 35-40 years ago. Luke's final fate was totally appropriate (echoing Obi-Wan Kenobi's) yet has become a Talking Point for Internet types who never have anything positive to say about anything.
Yet, I think my association with Star Wars is finished. The first trilogy was innovative and exciting. Its patterns of action and plot reversals are still being copied closely in all of the dozens of superhero movies released annually. The modern Star Wars films (prequels and sequels) also follow those patterns, repeating themselves and cannibalizing off themselves. IOW, all the computer animation, the chases, the property destruction, the battles - these are all things we have seen dozens - if not hundreds - of times in modern "action" films. Except for the aforementioned "nostalgia" factor, you can't tell Star Wars from any other machine tooled processed movie product summer blockbuster which are little more than a sound and light show.

The day I watched it I gave it a 10/10 and after a week when I calmed down I gave it a 9/10. It has remained a 9/10 ever since and my #3 favorite Star Wars movie.

Yeah, but the Canto Bight subplot is still bad. Although it did give us DJ.

My opinion hasn't changed. I'm still disappointed in the characterization of Luke Skywalker and Finn and Rose's subplot. However, there's good stuff like Kylo Ren's character arc, the performances from the cast, John Williams's musical score, the production design, and the visual effects.
