She's an actress. It's not her fault that she played a superfluous character in a terrible movie; it's Rian Johnson's fault. If complaints should be directed at anyone, it's Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy.

It’s still a young medium and it’s dangers aren’t fully realised IMO |

Casual racism aside, if you are going to appear in a big movie portraying an obnoxious character, expect obnoxious reactions from at least some people with the time and convenience to be insulting and not afraid to point out your lack of value to the story.
The internet is like the Gong Show where everyone is Rex Reed.

They're in a business that often criticizes them too much or praises them too much. Having said that I agree with you. I don't understand leveling personal attacks at her as if she were actually the character. She's limited to how her character was written. Even if a person thinks her performance was bad beyond the character, there's still tempered and objective ways to express that. Venting and blasting the person behind the character is trollish and usually uncalled for. |

Ignore it and move on; or respond with cheeky sarcasm and move on. But if you focus on harsh/extreme criticism or personal attacks from obvious trolls, things like this happen. Celebrities shut down and withdraw. |

When I hear the trolls being like "If they want to win us back, they should bring on [insert name here] to do a movie", and I'm like, "What makes you think anyone would want to join this franchise at this point knowing that they will be bombarded with the hatred of a million manchildren if they din't like the movie? |

As Power Ranger helpfully indicated, we are all on the same page. My point is that those who have issues with Rose Tico or "The Last Jedi" should be directing their ire toward Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy, not Kelly Marie Tran. Tran is an actress, not her character, and merely did the best she could with the script and direction she was given. She clearly does not deserve the abuse she has received. Thank you for the apology. I am glad we got this misunderstanding straightened out. Finally, I want to add I am also a big fan of "The Venture Bros." - Go Team Venture!  |

Star Wars Fans definitely have an anger problem. I didn't care much for The Last Jedi either, but good lord it is just a movie. And it is not like Kelly Marie Tran had any creative control over the film. If the haters need to be prickly about the movie at least direct it at the right people.
This is something I think we Star Wars fans need to own up to and try to remedy. The bitterness and negativity has been going on for way too long and is actually causing harm to people.
Everybody, let's just take it down a notch.
