Well I've seen all but the last episode, it isn't actually too bad but it is pretty slow. It's not as good as the Netflix shows but it's better than I was expecting.
The two leads are pretty good though.

Just got around to it the other night and I have to say it's surprisingly not terrible. I know that's a backhanded compliment, but a teen drama on free form doesn't normally get me interested in the least. It's just a well done show all around. The story is intriguing, the acting is competent and thus the characters are compelling. I've really been impressed with the writing (the plot has its issues, I'll get into that), specifically the interpersonal relationships and even the one off interactions. I chuckled at the kid in the laundromat asking them to clean his Cumberbatch, and the detective making a Bechdel test joke to the chick she was interrogating probably went over 75% of the audience's head, but it was great. I'm five episodes in and I'm looking forward to finishing the season this week if possible.
It's odd that a street urchin hooked on all kinds of drugs is this gorgeous. I mean the actress is an 11/10 to start with, there's no way a girl with Tandy's lifestyle doesn't have a few tats and probably a missing tooth and/or a visible scar but whatever. (As an aside, it's amazing how much she looks like the actress playing her mother.) They also gloss over the fact that Tandy's mom and the lawyer had an all night drug bender like two nights ago, and suddenly he's buying groceries and burning the midnight oil at his office on the case. That was a pretty quick and unexplained turnaround from 'piece of shit ambulance chaser' to 'responsible adult fighting the good fight.' It didn't make a ton of sense but I guess it doesn't matter since they take him out immediately after that, anyway.
The show does as good a job building the mystery as they do with the character dynamics, and that's a recipe for a show I want to watch. I've enjoyed the slow build as they figure out their powers; I appreciate a 'superhero' show that focuses more on the people than the powers or the costumes. It reminds me of Jessica Jones in that way, and that's high praise coming from me. I could do without the musical interludes every ten minutes, but I guess I need to remember the target demographic of this network. Still, it's definitely worth a watch if you enjoy Marvel television.

The quality is good but man is it slow. Part of me wants them to get their act together and team up already, but then I wonder where the story goes from there. They can't resolve the Roxxon plot this season and I'd get bored if the show became them fighting street crime every week.

Just look at all the awesome storylines Agents of SHIELD were able to come up with despite not having material to pull from. Cloak and Dagger shouldn't have problems doing so. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for an action-packed scene every episode. But I'm already in episode 6 and at this point it seems every episode is simply a build up with nothing much happening. It's interesting enough to keep me watching but I'm not getting any satisfaction from watching it.

The quality is good but man is it slow. Slow how? Pacing? What does it consist of, then? A lot of scenes of the two of them like sitting around on rooftops tryna figure out what in the fuck is going on? Or what? I haven't seen it yet, but I like the characters in the comics and have the show on my list for future viewing.

Pretty much yeah, a lot of scenes of them trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Plus a lot of flashback scenes. A lot of scenes showing how messed up their family lives are. A lot of scenes where they have telepathic visions of each other running around at home or in the woods, not really doing anything. I mean, these scenes are important in a show... as long as they're not the ONLY scenes in the show. But for the first few episodes not much happens other than these. Still hoping it picks up the pace soon.

I'm still poking my way through Runaways season one and haven't even touched either of those X-Men shows, Gifted and the other one. Legacy? Legion? Legend? Whatever. ETA: anyway, thanks for your insights.

One episode to go, watching the season finale tonight. I hope they stick the landing. I have to say I've really enjoyed the hell out of this show. It isn't without flaws but Tyrone is one of the best heroes the MCU has to offer, for my money. One of the highlights was the reference to Luke Cage's show (specifically Misty Knight) which puts this story firmly in the MCU, whether the films ever admit the shows exist or not.
Episode 7 made for great sci-fi storytelling (despite the vibe of the show being more mystical than anything else). Make them paranormal investigators or something in the future, don't have them beating up purse snatchers for four seasons. This show has a ton of potential, I never expected to like it as much as I do. Looking forward to seeing where they go with the story.

Not gonna lie, the season finale was a bit underwhelming. It feels like they wanted to do something big in the finale to raise the stakes but didn't really know how. Despite ending on a lackluster note, I'm looking forward to season 2. I legitimately like this show; more than a few of the Netflix offerings even. It's not amazing television, but it knows what it wants to do and executes that vision. Unlike say Defenders, Iron Fist or even Punisher in my opinion.
As I mentioned previously, I hope they explore the idea of them becoming paranormal investigators instead of your typical street vigilantes. A little of both would be fine, but the Roxxon storyline is tired already so move on from that.
