not that you would, but its just not a good movie. everything in it was done already and way better by Robert Redford and Kyle Chandler and their All is lost. True story? Ok, then dont change it THIS MUCH. Shaileene Woodley is good, as always, but the director doesn't trust its audience enough and has her narrate/talk to herself/out loud too many times when silence would have been just as explanatory and more powerful. i struggled to keep focused and had zero empathy for the people in it. the music and the flashbacks didnt help. 3.5/10 from me and all 3 points go to Shaileene and 0.5 to the ocean. if you go, dont be surprised if you…adrift away

Those types of movies generally aren't my thing anyway. I heard about the ending from Midnight Screenings' review. How did the audience take it, if you noticed anything?

I saw the preview and some of us in our group were interested in seeing it. Another friend who has seen it recommended it.
What didn't you like about it?

Kon tiki 3. Open Water 4. Unbroken the part in the Ocean 5. The Deep then I would say its not a waste of time. But if you have seen any of the above then you might find yourself disappointed because this movie brings literally nothing new and very little interesting, especially since half of it is flashbacks to life before which is Completely redundant and breaks the tension. its not a horrible movie, its just a sub-par specimen of its genre. plus the main couple is so unlikeable. girl that will not kill a fish when the love of her life and herself are dying of hunger in the middle of the ocean because she doesnt want to hurt the fish? Uhm. no thank you. the acting is good but it would have been better as a 20 minute short. this is perfect movie to watch at home. not worth cinema money and i say that rarely.

I'll try to steer the group in another direction.
