"She's gorgeous, and she's never been kissed. Needless to say, she's from another planet."In a last minute attempt to avoid that their home planet is destroyed, a highly technological skilled alien species must put their trust in that the stunning Celeste (Kim Basinger) might be able of finding a permanent solution for their problems by taking a trip down to earth. There she soon will fall into the life of a lonely single dad and eccentric scientist named Dr. Steve Mills (Dan Aykroyd) who is also in a desperate need of being saved, well from his boring and chaotic life that is, much to his own daughters dismay. One of my favorite 80s sci-fi comedies which features a smokin' hot Kim Basinger in the role of a female alien in search of the key to save her planet but who instead ends up falling in love with a human and things end up taking a certain twist and turn when her secret identity comes out of hiding. An enjoyable feel-good movie which also stars Dan Aykroyd, Jon Lovitz, Joseph Maher and the two future Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars Alyson Hannigan and Seth Green.

It's really great to see another fan here of the film Earth Girls are Easy . This one also had a really good music score / soundtrack as well . Another fun film with a great soundtrack I also enjoyed along with these 2 films - Making Mr. Right from 1987 . Thanks so much taylorfirst1 for your reply .

I've always enjoyed watching this film back to back along with another sci-fi comedy favorite of mine, My Favorite Martian (1999). Starring Jeff Daniels, Christopher Lloyd, Daryl Hannah, Liz Hurley and Wayne Knight. A movie which would be released a bit later on and one that I think also suffers from having fallen under the radar for many years now. Okay, not a great movie but it comes with a likeable cast and has a nice feel-good atmosphere going and is a film I would recommend to those who liked My Stepmother Is an Alien.

Thanks so much stefancrosscoe for your subject post . Again, its always nice to see you and read your kind replies mszanadu and I am very glad that this thread all of a sudden came alive, as I had kind of "feared" that I was one of the very few who loved this funny and sweet sci-fi 80s comedy on this site. Earth Girls Are Easy, boy that is another one that have been lying around in my by now, very sickly and overweight watchlist for years. I am not sure why I haven't checked it out yet, but there is just so little time and far too many films I want to see but hopefully I will come to it sooner or later and I will put up either a review or if nobody have started a thread for the film, I might do so myself, well if it turns out that I really enjoyed that is. But I think that will be be of no problem, as it looks like a fun ride and it got Geena Davis, which is never a bad thing. Anyway, thanks for dropping by and the recommendation of Earth Girls.

Have put this one in my watchlist, as it looked very fun and also I notice it seems to be in a similar tone to a film I loved as a kid, but strangely I forgot both the title and who played in it, but it turned out later that it was the Disney produced sci-fi comedy Not Quite Human which was released the same year as Making Mr. Right, but sadly that one I think still not have been given a DVD release, that and its sequel Not Quite Human 2 (1989). Once more, thanks so very much for your recommendations, mszanadu I really do appreciate that, as it is one of the few things I miss the most from the old IMDb board. People sharing and discussing their favorite movies and bringing up similar themed/related titles in the same thread/message board, specially those I have never heard of before but that seems like a good time.

You know, I had no idea that Bug (Jay Underwood) from the John Candy/John Hughes comedy classic Uncle Buck (1989) played in all three of the Not Quite Human films, but it sure was a very different kind of role, as in Uncle Buck he came off as a complete sleazebag while in the Disney movies, he was surely the complete opposite.
Would have loved to see all three films out on Blu-ray/DVD someday, but I guess the chances are sadly not to big these days, as so many of Disney's older movies and TV shows seems to never be given a fair and respectful release, where as the biggest crime is how many of their older 1980 and early 90s animated TV series which still have yet to be put out on either DVD or Blu-ray in a complete collection, or even through a few Volumes.

Whoa ! No kidding stefancrosscoe I guess this actor Jay Underwood must have done very well in the 1980's & 90's to also be in Disney TV Movies too . It just goes to show certain actors can be quite versatile as well as talented with the roles they choose also . I agree these quality Disney TV Movie gems most definitely deserve to be on DVD & BLU RAY especially since these TV Movies are not made or if at all as well as it was years ago . Thanks so much again stefancrosscoe for your reply .

There are so many of the 1970s and 80s produced Disney films that I have been wanting to see for years now, and I always seem to find something "new" that I have not watched but really want to. Especially one called Midnight Madness (1980), which comes with quite a solid cast and seems to be a very fun and wild ride: That awesome looking movie poster is really what got me interested, and along with Disney not interested or care of producing much quality family movies anymore, they sure don't make movie posters like the one above any longer either. They once used to be almost a work of art, where as now days I cannot remember the last time I stumbled upon a great and memorable looking movie poster or even a Blu-ray/DVD which came with an original idea that stood out from all the rest and far too often generic looking ones. Jay Underwood seemed to be a promising teen actor back in the day, not sure what happened but he seemed to have good run towards the end of the 80s and early 90s, but then I guess he either quit or maybe got tired of the business industry and wanted to do something else with his life.
