It's like they took the idea of Alien being a "haunted house movie in space" and really ran with it since it's almost literally what this movie is.

I like the first half, but the second half just becomes silly imo.

I think it was set up to be a great film, but as it progressed it seemed like it just went overboard with everything to the point it became disappointing.
Good cast, though.

I think that Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill both gave Pretty Darn Good Performances in it.

Just watched it last night. It's such an Alien ripoff, but I thought there was going to be an actual creature. The ship being "alive" and causing the hallucinations wasn't a particularly good idea, IMO. Cast keeps things interesting, and the results are ok without being particularly good. As indicated by the thread I started today, I thought the ending could be better (I'd like to have got a look at this other dimension they were talking about). The idea of setting the controls for a distant star and going through the edge of the universe into another dimension was very cool and kind of creepy. 5/10

Watched this on Netflix. Liked it
Apparently the studio made Anderson cut the film down a lot. The deleted ootage apparently has been lost however. Too ba d
A lot of gore apparently was cut
“ The original cut of the film was over two hours long and contained levels of gore that would have easily given it an NC-17 rating. Rumor has it that when this cut of the movie was screened for a test audience, some of them fainted while others rushed for the door due to being so disturbed by what they had seen.”

A lot more up close and personal. I really like this movie but I can only take it in small doses. Like once every 3 or 4 years maybe. I saw it at the theater when it first came out. The visuals of the Event Horizon orbiting Neptune were amazing on the big screen. I think Ad Astra took some inspiration from that.

This movie scared the daylights out of me when I saw it in theaters back in '97.
