Thankee (as Dr. Gideon Fell would say), jervistetch ! Much appreciated. Now, to apply some logic to Pete 's response. (Sorry if I'm referring to ya exclusively in the third-person, Pete. I'm trying to approach the whole thing merely as a logical puzzle and to respond to those who aren't the "puzzle master"/"enigmatologist.") His declarative statement, "the connection is NOT body parts," renders my last post utterly incorrect. So, forgetting about that, let's move on. He writes that my identification of two pictures is helpful. I will assume (an awfully dangerous thing to do, as Felix Unger points out) that refers to the "Wow!" signal and Cranach's Adam and Eve paintings. He also writes that several of brimfin 's identifications are correct. Now, we must be even more careful with assumptions here: Brimfin identified several pictures, and Pete's general response did not explain to which ones he was referring. (Not criticizing, Pete; I know the game is supposed to be hard!) Let's take the ones he's sure on: The intro to M*A*S*H, with the nurses running towards the chopper. The VW Bug (it is "Herbie," by the way) The Toyota car The Half-Note The Tattoo of Hawkeye and Radar Question 1 (not to Pete, specifically, but just in general): Accurate is not the same as helpful, so does these identifications' accuracy reflect their helpfulness re: our solving of the puzzle? Now let's take those that we also know: The Eye from the Doctor Who episode "Carnival of Monsters," with Jon Pertwee. (My knowledge of Who is basically non-existant, but I have looked it up and see that Pertwee was the "Third Doctor." I have no idea if that helps any.) The Sheet of Paper--the "Wow!" Signal "Eve" from Cranach's Adam and Eve. Those about which we're not yet sure: The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Vehicle The Boot Camp Image (is it An Officer and a Gentlemen or Full Metal Jacket? Anyone know?) Question 2: To what does Image 2 refer? "Eye" or something else? If something else, then why, as Brimfin wrote, use the Who picture, not just a general photo of an eye? Question 3: Pete didn't respond to any of my guesses besides the (incorrect) body part connection. Does it mean that one of them is on the right track? If so, which one? Question 4: "My earlier post to 'say what you see' meant that you should give a description of each picture." Yes, but it's still difficult to determine exactly what it means. That is to say, was my deduction before accurate, that we should speak the words that we see and that will be the answer? Question 5: To what are some of these things referring? There are several elements in the pictures. Just throwing these thoughts out there.

I'm pretty sure it's Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, the first half of which takes place at the Marine training camp at Parris Island, SC.

By God, I think I've got it, though I'm still not sure about one or two of them. I'll put the rest of this in spoilers, but here goes... The answer is--they're referring to palindromes. "Eve" is the same backwards and forwards, as are "eye," "pull-up," "minim," "wow," "race car" (Herbie), "Radar" (the tattoo). With that said, Pete, I can't determine the answers for M*A*S*H (unless it's "madam" or "ma'am," referring to a woman in authority?), the bomb disposal vehicle, or the Toyota car. I can still work on those if you'd prefer me to think it through. And I think this answer has too much circumstantial evidence not to be correct, but, if it is, please let me know!

Holy smokes. I think you have it, too, salzmank! I hope so, but I can't think of anything for the Toyota or the bomb vehicle. Any ideas?

Yes. I had just figured it out too, but I was looking at it on my phone where I couldn't post as easily. Anyway, to be fair, it was salzmank's mention of the WOW that finally gave it to me. I never would have made that connection. Anyway, let me add to what he already posted. (I only checked to see if he was thinking the same thing.) It is indeed palindromes. The ones you are missing are "nurses run" for the 2nd photo, and "racecar" for the VW bug. I had not figured out "pull-up" as you did. I still haven't figured out the bomb van - oh, wait it just hit me - "Navy van!" I believe that covers them all, along with "eve","eye", "minim" and "Wow" and "A Toyota". Although, I thought the tattoo was simply "Tat" the slang term; I didn't pick up on Radar. Congratualation, salzmank.

How do you do the spoiler thing? It's the last button on the second row above: the one with the smiley-face with the ovular two lines down instead of the smile. Nothing comes up if you push it, but it turns it into spoilers. You will see it if you go to "BBCode" instead of "Preview."

For my part, I would have never gotten "navy van," "nurses run," and "a Toyota." Congratulations yourself, Brimfin!

Whew, that was one tough puzzle, but in researching it I felt the closest I've come to the early puzzles in The Last of Sheila!

That was indeed a tough one. It's like we needed to discuss it to finally see the logic. I could have stared at those images for days and never solved it on my own.

Absolutely brilliant, Jervistetch! And I knew there was something up with the repeated pictures of Eve, but that I wouldn't have guessed. Wow, this is a good one!

I was admiring your solution to the puzzle thinking, "That so cool. They're all palindromes. But why would he have Seven Eves? Oh my God!"

I was admiring your solution to the puzzle thinking, "That so cool. They're all palindromes. But why would he have Seven Eves? Oh my God!" And that, my friend, is what they call "sudden, transformative epiphanic revelation" or, more simply, "anagnorisis"--or, more simply than that, "the Homer Simpson effect"! ("D'oh!"--simultaneous surprise and inevitability.) Great feeling, isn't it? I think I've only gotten it maybe half a dozen times, all with either puzzles, movies, or mystery novels! (I was writing about it on another thread about mysteries.) Great work!
