Another poster created a thread about Star Wars not helping anyone's career save Harrison Ford. If you think about it, there aren't many franchises that have boosted many actor's careers. Most franchises get famous actors to boost the movie, not no names. Which movie franchise boosted the careers of most of their cast?

I'll say The Godfather franchise. It gave prominence to Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Robert De Niro, James Caan, Talia Shire, and revived Marlon Brando's career.

But I think it's interesting that The Lord of the Rings didn't seem to do much for its cast. I think it may have helped a few Ian McKellan Highly respected with 22 film roles in 30 years prior to Fellowship Of The Ring Highly respected and a higher profile with 24 roles in 17 years after Fellowship Of The Ring Orlando Bloom 1 supporting film role 4 years before Fellowship Nearly 30 films roles in the 17 years after Fellowship Andy Serkis 14 minor roles in mostly Indie films in 7 years before Fellowship 37 roles, many key, in 17 years after Fellowship, including starring role in a highly regarded and successful franchise, creation of his own production company, directing a major studio picture I'd also say it raised the profile/increased work of The Hobbits, as well as Viggo Mortensen, who was definitely offered better roles after

The Cornetto Trilogy..although not really a franchise (the name was given to it by fans) Simon Pegg and Nick frosts careers have certainly benefited

I'll say The Godfather franchise. It gave prominence to Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Robert De Niro, James Caan, Talia Shire, and revived Marlon Brando's career. Yeah and while GF3 is far from being a great (or even good) film, Andy Garcia and Joe Mantegna both got a lot of high profile movies after 1990. I remember Garcia got steady leading man roles until the early 00's.

Dracula gave a boost to Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, Frank Langella and maybe Gary Oldman.
Ditto Frankenstein helped Boris Karloff, Michael Sarrazin, and Bo Svenson but I don't think it did any good for Robert DeNiro.

would The Dark Knight trilogy/franchise be a good choice? Bale & Tom Hardy are damn near house hold names nowadays (unless you've been living under a rock) . Cillain Murphy career was elevated as well. Ditto on Eckhart , And IF Ledger was still alive , he'd be a massive star (but not sure he would have wanted that . I saw his documentary and it seemed like he would have strayed away from a lot of big roles) . .

I'd say appearing in X-Men movies has generally done wonders for the careers of the actors and actresses involved.

Godfather seems the best choice. Maybe James Bond given its longevity?

Pulp Fiction has got to be up there. It gave Travolta new life...made Samuel Jackson a household name...hard to remember a time when he wasn’t but it was before Pulp Fiction. Put Uma Thurman on the map. Made Quentin Tarantino a brand of his own.
Of course...it’s not a franchise.

Maybe Jennifer Lawrence with The Hunger Games?
