Well if they do, Marvel may still get some or all of the X-Men/FF4 if there is a non-transfer clause in the contracts.

A piece of rotten apple that Rupert Murdoch irreversibly chokes on during his breakfast would go a long way. Here's hoping

As long as Fox remains a single, undissolved entity, they will continue to control the Marvel IP they have licensed. Comcast isn't going to make the 21CF brand name go away.

Oh well. Guess MCU will have to manage without Mutants. No biggie

As far as the movies go they really need Marvel Studios.
Fantastic Four has been a complete failure every single time they've tried.
X-men has faired much better but after the mediocre Apocalypse and the rumoured mediocre Dark Phoenix then who knows what will happen with that.
Logan was great but that character is done.
Even if they don't get the rights, they could just do what Sony did with Spider-man which saved that series.

I must be the only one who wants everyone to just STOP MAKING X-MEN MOVIES. Outside of First Class, Logan and the two Deadpool movies, none of 'em have even come close to being passable.

Apparently Comcast wants sky. So we may see Disney and Comcast splitting the assest.
Which will probably be best in the long term since neither will completely own %100 of fox.
Sadly Murdock still gets a big pay from this.

As far as the movies go they really need Marvel Studios. No they dont. 6 out of the last 7 Xmen affiliated films have ranged from at least good to excellent. Theyve also made respectable money and achieved positive audience reception. Dark Phoenix being a medoicre film is just rumour at this point without even a trailer to assess. The franchise doesnt need saving, certainly not from Disney. Theres no reason why they couldnt just reboot the X-universe if rights stay with Fox. DCEU collectively has made on average $100m more with their franchise yet they are the ones in complete disarray.

Theres no reason why they couldnt just reboot the X-universe if rights stay with Fox. DCEU collectively has made on average $100m more with their franchise yet they are the ones in complete disarray. But of those last seven movies, two of them were Wolverine movies and that character is done with now. Another two of them were Deadpool movies which are mostly just their own thing and Ryan Reynolds even said Deadpool 3 might not happen (though I doubt that). So that just leaves the actual X-men movies. First Class and Days of Future Past were great but Apocalypse wasn't and it didn't do that well. Now the next one is meant to be Dark Phoenix and even if the rumours were nonsense, there is no interest in that movie at all. Apocalypse didn't do well and at least that movie A. Followed a movie people did like. B. Had Wolverine in it. C. Had Apocalypse who people had wanted for a long time. Dark Phoenix was already done in X-men 3. So it won't be a surprise at all if that movie makes even less money. Also where Marvel Studios has been very consistent with releasing movies when they plan to, the X-men series are not. Gambit has been in production hell for years. New Mutants has been delayed twice. Dark Phoenix has been delayed. They're supposedly making a Multiple Man movie, a Shadow Cat movie and a X-23 movie. Chances are there won't be much interest in those either.

Another two of them were Deadpool movies which are mostly just their own thing and Ryan Reynolds even said Deadpool 3 might not happen (though I doubt that). Doesn't matter what they were. They were all released under Fox who gave the green light ultimately to make R rated mature content. Whats to come in the future is just speculation, we can only analysis what has happened. Apocalypse as it stands is an anamoly in a positive trend. Dark Phoenix well just have to wait and see, theres no point discussing what might or might not be. In terms of its hype, its not as much as Infinity War obviously, but the film is still 8 months away so its no surprise. Until a trailer drops there isnt much to analyse in terms of youtube views, fan reception etc. Gambit, multiple man, X23 are all projects that are being stalled because of the merger. Not because the studio is operating in a sloppy manner.
