A film about Rumi! Apparently he was recently in Istanbul speaking with experts about Rumi.
I think it'll be fascinating.
Rumi was born in Afghanistan 1207, Lived and traveled in Turkey, but wrote most of his poems in Persian: All three countries feel very possessive of him.
He is the best-selling poet in the US
Do you love historical epics too? Which ones?

This sounds very interesting, historical epics are my favorite genre of film. Gladiator was very impressive but I’m a fan of most of them particularly from the 1950s and 1960s.

that sounds great. I love The Gladiator and Rumi is a great source of material. Looking forward to it. Know whos to direct?
as for historical epics that i like, other than Gladiator I would have to say Titanic (Does that count?) and Kundun and I think I liked Elizabeht and Gangs of New York too but dont have as strong of an impression as Gladitor which I know I love and have seen many many times. Oh and Spartacus from the older ones, of course. I wanted to like Master and Commander but something was very offputting on it for me. Maybe the brutality.
how about you?

Who is he plagiarizing now? whom did he plagiarized before? Gladiator is a direct rip-off of Fall of the Roman Empire, yet got an oscar nom for ORIGINAL screenplay.

It's in the early stages, I don't think the director has been named yet. Me too, wasn't crazy at all about Master and Commander. I think my favorite is Ben-Hur. It's been a very long time since I saw Kundun, thanks for the reminder, maybe time for a rewatch.

Who is he plagiarizing now? Well there's not much to plagiarize other than from docs, or an animation. Maybe there's a Turkish, or Iranian film, but not that I'm aware of. I read a debate about what you're referring to, and most felt there's enough uniqueness to Gladiator to stand on it's own, but I admit I've not seen the earlier film.

Definitely among the better sword-and-sandal episode epics from that era.
