Great game, best one so far. Also the 1 point to both teams means that Iran and Morocco aren't completely out of the picture (even though their quality is inferior).

you kiddin' me - you seahags told me this game was on at 7..... what did i miss...... A fantastic game, could be considered as one of the best of the world cup at the end of the competition. Spain was amazing, much better than I expected them to be. Brilliant at times, especially Diego Costa. Portugal was okay, but was elevated by a phenomenal performance from Ronaldo, 3 goals by him. |

Always nice when a match lives up to the hype. I thought this was going to be one of those dull cagey affairs, and that actually the Iran Morocco game would end up the surprise winner today. Only thing the match didn't have was a sending off. Even Danny Murphy's dreary voice couldn't ruin it.

I'm almost at a loss to articulate my feelings here. I'm a cook and work unsociable hours, yet weirdly found myself free to watch this match tonight. Nevertheless, since being awake from half-past-four I managed to fall asleep and wake to see the match timer at 90+3.
Not a single pundit can fault what I managed to miss. Spectacular, what a game.
Fuck.

Some next morning thoughts I can't remember Portugal ever having a decent No.9. They don't really want to play CR7 there too often. He's much more effective coming from wide and I missed Nani, Bernardo Silva was a disappointment. Expected more of him. Love the old guy Quaresma. Classy. When Iniesta quits Spain have David Silva to run the show. Could do with an out-and-out winger. This was Spanish tiki-taki at its best. CR7 likes a hattrick.
