They better make a good character out of her then. Iron Man and Captain America are almost universally loved and their movies amongst either the most successful or most well liked.
It's gonna need a good replacement but I suppose Captain Marvel is the best candidate.

From a purely cultural standpoint, I think it would’ve been more significant if they made Black Panther the face of the MCU, but oh well. In any case, it wouldn’t surprise me if all the “SHES A MARY SUE” complaints among Internet circles will be directed towards Carol Danvers in the future.

Ugh, not a fan of this decision. I was expecting Dr. Strange and Black Panther to be the ones to take over flagship status. They've already had some good development in the MCU, we know the audiences reacted well to them, so it just made more sense to make them the face of the MCU after Stark and Cap. If anything, I was expecting Captain Marvel to replace Thor's place as the intergalactic powerhouse of the team. Then Spiderman takes 4th place in their team to replace Hulk. I mean, I'm fine with her taking the lead, but I think it's risky and undeserved to name her the flagship character at this point because she hasn't been developed yet and we don't know just how popular her character will be with the general audience. DC made that mistake by making Superman and Batman the leads in their DCEU even before those two were proven successful in handling the franchise. I don't want to see the MCU make the same mistake. Also, if she's as powerful as Feige says she'll be, it might be a mistake to make her the leader of the MCU. Might make things a bit boring. Imagine if godmode Thor had been the leader of the Avengers since day 1. He would have soloed nearly every challenge that came their way.

Did Kathleen Kennedy assume control of the MCU?

Did Kathleen Kennedy assume control of the MCU? I told you, it is Disney's head office. The same one that was Team Clinton.
Their movies have to reflect their social engineering propaganda objectives.

Black Panther would be too busy being King of the most advanced country in the world to run some superhero team.
Same with Doctor Strange, they said in his movie that the Sorcerers protect the realms so he's busy with that.
So Captain Marvel seems like a suitable choice.

There must be a reason why Captain Marvel has been away for all these decades from present-day MCU. If they can write a story for her to drop her duties there and become the face of the MCU, they can definitely do the same for either Dr. Strange or BP.

Theyve been pushing Captain Marvel as the flagship character in the comics but their sales dropped because readers were simply not interested. So it is a risky decision to put her as lead in the films, especially as shes being set up as a mary sue type last resort heroine.

I'm fine with making her the flagship character but at least make her earn it. Even Captain America wasn't a flagship character in Phase 1, he didn't really get into it till after TWS. He had to earn it. Now, Captain Marvel is already being announced as the most powerful Avenger AND the new flagship character... all before we've even seen her movie. They could have at least tested the waters with her first, seen how the audience reacts to the character. The MCU needs to be careful how they handle this because if they push too hard this will backfire on them the same way Rey backfired on Star Wars.

Theyll try and follow Wonder Womans example which was recieved well although her powers are quite even relatively speaking to Supermans. But the way shes been in hiding during BvS is probably the same reason theyll use for Cap Marvels disappearance - something to do with no trusting the outside world.

Maybe Feige is confinement that audiences will love her?
Brie Larson is a great actress after all.

As of this moment, I WANT Diana to be the flagship character of the DCEU... but only because she's proven herself to be the best thing that came out of that franchise. If you told me that she was going to be the flagship character of the new DCEU even before she appeared in any movie I would have reacted negatively. But at least Wonder Woman is part of main Trinity of JL. Captain Marvel is like a D-level character from Marvel. She's neither the most powerful, nor the most well-known, nor a leader of the Avengers. So it's a weird decision for me. I hope her movie is a big hit, because now her character has a lot riding on her shoulders.

Here is hoping that the character is well-written and the situations they put her in are not catering to the SJW crowd, which is a big reason why Marvel's comic division isn't doing so hot anymore.
