I'm predicting a win for France. However, the coach for Australia van Marwijk did bring that terrible Saudi Arabian team to the WC (before they kicked him out). So if any inferior team could win from a favorite it may be this Australia.

Some observations from the first 6 minutes: God soccer is boring.
And Australia look disorganised and, generally speaking, utter tosh.

Either France is playing a lot worse than normal or Australia is playing a lot better than usual, because the game looks pretty balanced so far. Australia's defence is quite good so far.

Yeah, pretty much as soon as I posted they improved their shape. Keeper is quality, not sure about the rest. Low quality game really. Australia are giving up the ball. A lot. Including in their devensive third, but France don't have the polish to hurt them.

France will bring on Giroud and Lemar and hump high balls into the Aussie area. The intricate style of MBappe and Dembele is being snuffed out. They've created very little.

I realise it's hard to get very excited about matches like this but Mark Lawrenson is enough to send anyone to sleep by himself. He's such a moaning miserly strop, complaining dismally about any play that doesn't pan out. "What a waste..." "more sloppy play..." "they're just not pressing..." "very underwhelming..." it's just a constant stream of negativity on the ears.
