Pro:
There are way worse movies out there Starting up the Missouri sequence with AC/DC Rianna isn't as terrible as advertised
Con: Edited swearing - gotta preserve the pg13 Why cast Liam Neeson if he's not gonna kick ass and take names? There is NO WAY Hopper would get into the navy, never mind rising to the position he's in Why even tie this to the boardgame? (that buoy scene is so stupid) Just have aliens vs the navy and be done "I think they're allergic to sunlight." They're allergic to sunlight. That was lucky.

Pros:
Better than all of the Transmorpher films combined Great SFX Michael Bay-like military fetishism
Cons:
On-the-island subplot unnecessary and horribly acted Only "Signs" water-kills-them is dumber than this films sunlight-kills-them

Pros:
- Seeing navy vets get in on the action.
- Yeah, Rihanna isn't that bad actually.
- The aliens aren't necessarily bloodthirsty warmongers.
Cons:
- Steals liberally from the ID4 handbook to alien invasion movies.
- The CGI and visual style too closely resembles the aesthetics for Michael Bay's Transformers movies instead of its own thing.
- Taylor Kitsch and Brooklyn Decker(?) are awful in this.
- Liam Neeson not killing anyone in his scenes.
- Ballsy enough to sequel bait this shit.
- No clear end game for the aliens (as I remember).
- Very little tie ins with the board game.
- That they made it an alien invasion movie instead of a straightforward war movie.
- Peter Berg trying really hard to ape Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich's style of filmmaking which is a shame because his most recent work show how good he can be doing his own thing.
- Painfully generic and predictable plot. It's no wonder they borrowed so much from ID4.
- The entire enterprise feels like a shamelessly cynical attempt to cash in on the Transformers movies.

Pros: None.
Cons: The whole fucking movie and every second of it.
I guess they wanted aliens attacking us because it would have been too un-PC to have enemies here on earth at war with each other?
