Its not that i am biased but i am very wary [and don't get me wrong, sad for] of Russian orphans being adopted and shipped to usa.
i have known about 4 Russian born children who were adopted and sent here. i have 2 in my extended family, alone. all four of them had some sort of disability or worse. disabilities, especially learning or physical, are kind of to be expected when you are a baby and locked in a crib. but then you get the deranged. one if the kids in my extended family was/is deranged. to the point of they needed to install motion detectors on ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS because he had a habit of sneaking out. like my cousin was up in the laundry room, looks out the window and sees him [at 4 years old] traipsing down the street!
when our second cousin [sister to the other cousin] was contemplating adopting a Russian child, my father brought it up with a Russian colleague and asked his advice about it. he said: what are they nuts?
turns out the second cousin's child has learning disabilities that i pinpointed at the age of 3. i saw her at a family gathering and her nose was all scraped dried bloody. turns out she had fallen a few days before and her reflexes didn't kick in. her arms didn't automatically come out to stop her face from being bashed in. it came as no surprise to me when i heard 3 years after this that she was diagnosed with multiple learning disabilities and was given all sorts of services. i am glad she was noticed and is getting services but i could have saved them three years if they had listened to me.
the other two i knew were in daycare. one had physical disabilities and needed braces on her legs. another was just a little bart simpson-y but when he ran into the street [after kicking three workers] we knew there was something up.

Unfortunately, there is some shady business to international adoptions, and not limited to Russia.

The current ruler of America, Putin, seems like a nice enough fella.

Or are you biased against them? I can't think of any I like. what kind of silly and racist/xenophobic sounding question is that?? why would u ask people if they like any members of a huge nation? certainly you dont think they all have the same traits/qualities/pros/cons right??? to answer your question: yes, there are russian people i like. i imagine it would be the same answer for any nation if i knew its representatives.

As a person who is not from west or Russia I can tell you my observations which are intended to be neutral though every human being suffers from some sort of minor biases. I believe that some people in west do have a strong degree of dislike/aversion for Russia (though not particularly for Russian people). While it may be true that there is a lack of transparency in activities of Russian government and there are many human right violation issues, the general attitude of certain western people (including not just the right wing but also the left wing) is to exaggerate the extent to which Russia should be held accountable for human right violations. Particularly given the fact that the military actions of United States and its allies over the years has been nothing but disgrace to humanity I do not like this extreme amount of hate that Russia gets. Though it could be result of propaganda of the cold war time period.

Ah. That's why? I didn't know that. I thought they just found it an annoyingly catchy tune.
