They were unlucky to not get a draw in football. They played pretty well for 80 mins and the penalty that went against them was a bit harsh. Missed out on cricket yesterday. At the moment Socceroos are more important.

Even if they had more shots on target they didn't look like a good team until the 80th minute.

I'm with Carl on that one. Socceroos never really looked like scoring. France frequently did. Some desperate defence on a couple of breaks made it look better, but 4-0 would have been on for the frogs with a little more polish.
Australia's going to keep struggling at all forms of cricket until at least March next year, but don't worry: we'll have Smith and Warner back just in time to win the WC in England. And Union is a dying sport in Oz unfortunately.

Based on form and class, Australia was always losing the cricket and football. Ireland v Wallabies was a coin flip. Ireland did win the grand slam after all.

But yesterday was a glorious day in the annals of Australian sport. Ashleigh Barty won the prestigious Nature Valley Open in Nottingham, the very epicentre of world tennis. They're hanging up bunting all over Aus as I type, and she's being met at the airport on her return home by a welcoming committee consisting of Dame Edna, Nick Cave and Madge from Neighbours.
