I am shocked so many people like this film. Its one of the worst Marvel films IMHO and is no better than Justice League at all, yet this got praise from viewers and critics while JL got trashed? I am honestly confused by this.
The main villain, Ultron, is laughable. He is not menacing in the slightest (despite how badly Marvel fanboys try claiming he is) and is a villain dropping one liners throughout the movie. He is not that hard to beat and you never truly feel like the Avengers are in danger. There is no real suspense, its always killed by jokes. It was stupid how it was basically punch, tell joke... kick, tell joke.... kill a bot, tell joke....
The movie is one of the biggest victims of the Disney trope that everything has to be funny. Things can be falling apart and someone has to say a one liner to make the audience laugh.
Elizabeth Olsens acting felt very HS play in many scenes to me and her accent was absolutely awful.
I hated how they killed off Quicksilver, in a way that you almost could care less.
Why is this film so centered on HAWKEYE??? Fucking HAWKEYE of all characters? I get that it is cause he is the human one on the team, but many of his scenes slowed down the film more than it needed to be, and it doesn't help that Jeremy Renner has no charisma or charm or screen presence. He's as bland as they come and they are trying to force a character to the forefront that easily fades into the background because of who is playing him. Had the role been cast with the right actor I bet Hawkeye would seem bad ass and not laughable. Ironically, with Hawkeyes human scenes slowing down the pace even more than it was, they were still some of the better scenes in the movie.
The battle scenes are far inferior to those in The Avengers. That entire final battle was barely even a battle but The Avengers running around saving civilians the entire time with bots randomly flying around and crawling.
The film is overall pointless and if you deleted it from the Marvel filmography almost nothing changes outside of Wanda, Pietro, and Vision. The film doesn't hold that much wait in the Universe.
The Bruce and Natasha romance was ridiculous and a buzz kill. It was so forced and there was no chemistry whatsoever between them. Her and Caps fucking would be far more believable than her and Bruce.
Overall the film is pretty dumb and useless and overall boring. Avengers deserved a better follow up (although I feel Phase II is overall the weakest of the three phases outside of Winter Soldier).
