also no.
confidence? yes by all means.
arrogance? no.
the most successful people i have had the privilege to meet, become friends and/or worked with were some of the most humble people I know.
Contrary to popular opinion arrogance is not needed in order to get ahead, get recognized or be successful. i honestly cannot see a situation where arrogance would be justified/needed/correct to apply.
I can see people being assertive, standing up for themselves, or openly confident as useful. but arrogant? no.
now the only area i would take out of this is COMEDY / when done by professional comedians. some stand up comedians have arrogant on/stage persona and there its fine. but off stage it has to go.

NoraAgreed. problem is... there seems to be a thin line between those two (especially on sports) and one person might see arrogance while other might see confidence. when it comes to professional basketball... Lebron James, who I refer to as 'king ego', pretty much takes the cake. but stuff like that aside with sports etc... like on a everyday average person level, some people are just arrogant as you stumble into people like these here and there (I know some people who you can tell are more of that prideful/arrogant type but I typically avoid them as much as I can(although some are less than others)). like some people have too much pride etc where they NEVER admit they are wrong or they have that air about them like you can tell they have that overly competitive/arrogant thing about them where they kind of feel they are better than most people etc. I am sure you know what I mean as it's not too difficult to find people who are more inline with that than not. just some people ain't too friendly etc. plus, some stuff people get offended over is related to some pride crap like if they like something and you don't, they almost take offense to it with that sorta of 'how dare you dis something I like' sort of thing. like it's kind of laughable if you ask me that they get mildly offended over stuff like that. or some people say someone cooks something... and you say you don't care for it, they tend to take it too personally even though some types of food I simply don't care for no matter who cooks it. like if you had the best chef on the planet cooking it, I still would not like certain foods. but who knows, I guess no body wants to sort of look bad on some level as no one wants to be below average or worse even though obviously some people will be below average or worse in some areas as we all have our ups and downs. or those types of people who always got to brag about what they got etc but if you even slightly casually mention something decent you got, not in a bragging sort of way, just a casual/natural conversation, it's like they don't want to hear it and just blow it off etc. etc etc. side note: but as one saying I heard which seems to be true... 'the more gifted a person is, the more they are tempted to pride. the less gifted a person is, they more they are tempted to envy'. p.s. but I guess with that said... we all likely have some form of pride active in us(even if mildly), just some people are somewhat full of that crap ; they need a dose of humility from time-to-time ; o well, people will be people.

...only when you are about to be put to death...then the arrogance, though short lived, can be considered justified...

So, I would agree with you that when people are ON (and that maybe extends itself a bit to performers in general, e.g., Mick Jagger and Barbra Streisand) So, yes, arrogance can be okay, and even appropriate for the duration of the act, like you said, then it's gotta go. It's okay, but from a distance... And comedy, especially, because most truly effective comedy has some layer of brutality in it. David Niven once said that to be an actor it is essential to be an egomaniac, it cannot work any other way. I love his way of putting that. And what's funny is that David Niven never once came across to me as even a little bit arrogant. Though I do realize that arrogance and egomania are not the same thing.

No. I personally think it is one of the worst traits a person can have. sadly, that's the worst part... the arrogant don't view it as a negative trait. you tell someone they are arrogant and they deny it. i don't think arrogance is a thing anymore. i actually think these people are insane. literally and clinically.

I understand you, but these people are not insane. Don't you understand that Trump's Administratiom is BUILT ON ARRROGANCE. Until Democrats stop being (but not entirely) PC, they are at a disadvantage. That's enough. I'm starting to feel the possibility of tears. I just.....just......ju.........
