Maybe even a reboot series to include what Ridley has added with the prequel series and what we saw in Predators and Shane Black's upcoming The Predator.

I enjoyed the first film. Talking about the history of our planet, and these two species. Very good story.
The second one was rather pointless. Just a typical horror film... only with Aliens & Predators. Nothing special. I was even disappointed in the AVP creature.
Although, I did like the brief appearance of the Predator homeworld.
AVP 3? Sure I would see it. I love both of the Aliens & Predators franchises.

But I don't know when AvP would be a good time for a new installment, those two were pretty bad or at least regarded as bad, comparatively to the individual franchises which have a few gems. I'd say in 5-10 years.

I realize they're perceived as weaker installments and don't particularly disagree, but apart from Alien 4 it seems to me the other ones could sort of remain as essentially standalone entries. It's been a while since I've seen them, admittedly, but I don't recall anything in them that especially undercuts the other movies. ( Resurrection, I'll grant you, is a different matter altogether.) And they're fun, if a bit "throwaway," stories about humans interacting -- mainly -- with Predators and the occasional Xenomorph. Now, like you said, we don't know what they're going to do with the upcoming movies, but based on what we know now there's no "necessity" to retcon or otherwise write them out, is there? |
