In an interview with TVLine on the heels of Supergirl's season 3 finale, Rovner confirms that Wood won't be reprising his role as Mon-El in the show's upcoming fourth year. Apparently, "the plan for Chris was always to have him on the show for two years. ...We’ve loved telling Mon-El’s story, as well as the story we’ve told for him and Kara. We hope the fans felt that it was a satisfying conclusion." Meanwhile, executive producer Jessica Queller further explains the need for Kara and Mon-El to separate again, comparing the two's separation to Casablanca's iconic ending. "They both have destinies in different times as heroes. What they did was the sort-of Casablanca decision of putting what’s most important to them — which is saving the world — first. It’s a little bittersweet that one destiny is to be a hero in this time and one’s destiny is to run the Legion in another time, but I think they grew a lot from knowing one another. They have respect for one another, and they have a respect for the decisions they respectively made.” screenrant.com/supergirl-season-4-mon-el-chris-wood-return/

I doubt Mon-El will be greatly missed. Though the wangst it will put Supergirl through is something we can do without.

I'm calling BS on this being the plan all along, otherwise they wouldn't have introduced Saturn Girl as his wife, only to reveal that it was a political marriage of convenience; or put him a position to contemplate whether returning to the Legion and being with Imra, or staying and try reuniting with Kara, only to take the decision out of his hands and shuttle him back to the future without a real choice in the matter. That sudden turnaround in plot came out of the blue, and seemed as tacked on. It pretty much makes his entire story this season pointless.

I think they're trying to make it sound like they had a plan all along, when really it was out of their hands.

Thanks for sharing that hardball. I was going to reply to this before but got caught up replying to other threads and forgot about it. I don't think Mon-El will be greatly missed as cjdull76 pointed out above except for people who are 'Karamel' shippers and let's face it, those people don't really care about the show or the fact it is a 'Supergirl' TV show and not a 'Mon-El' show and were defending Mon-El getting a lot of air time last season and claiming he should get more. I personally thought Season 2 was at its worst when they were putting all the focus on Mon El and Kara's relationship with him and we went through a few episodes where Mon-El was getting more screen time than Kara and Kara's only purpose seemed to be her relationship with Mon El when she was fired from CatCo for a short time. While I didn't think he was as annoying in Season 3 as he was in Season 2 I feel the character is unneeded at this point and the show should be focusing on Kara as Supergirl and not her relationship. Kara didn't have a main love interest in the comic books like Superman had with Lois Lane and the longest relationship she had was with Nightwing so I don't think she needs one in the show.

I really want this show to mess with viewers by bringing in Comet as a love interest.

I really want this show to mess with viewers by bringing in Comet as a love interest. I think the only way they can have Comet is if they go with the 90s version of the character from the Linda Danvers series (as seen below) but I am left wondering now with Mon-El out of the picture if they will go with Braniac 5 as Kara's love interest since he was a love interest of hers for a while in the comic books and probably her second longest relationship behind Nightwing.

Now that I think about it they wasted Mon El's departure. Why didn't they kill him off? We could have seen him die but instead they just sent him away with Imra who he betrayed when he went back to Kara. What a fucking goofball. That girl had it goin' on.

We haven't seen them together in the show and I didn't think there was any chemistry between Cordy and Angel in Buffy until they moved them to Angel.

Since when has the Arrowverse cared about chemistry between actors? If they did we wouldn't have Olicity.

Since when has the Arrowverse cared about chemistry between actors? If they did we wouldn't have Olicity. No chemistry? How dare you say such a thing cjdull76 when you know Olicity was always going to be endgame and Olicity is the greatest relationship of all time even if their wedding involved stealing the thunder of Barry and Iris To be honest, I can see why Stargazer can't picture any chemistry between Melissa and the actor who played Braniac 5 but at the same time I think Beccy makes a good point about Cordelia and Angel and I didn't see any chemistry between them either but when they put them together on 'Arrow' it kinda grew 'cause Cordelia changed so much as a character. I think it is possible since they haven't been in many scenes together but I don't see it happening. I think Kara and Lena have a better chance of happening.

Now there's a prime example of a show fixing a mistake instead of charging ahead with it!

Season 4 was kinda a disaster and a lot of fans I know didn't like it 'cause of what they did with Cordelia, The Beast and Jasmine and I think parts of the season were fairly good and I liked them bringing Angelus back and getting Faith back to stop him but from what I heard the original plan was very different and Cordelia was supposed to be the main villain and Angel was going to face her at the end of the season instead of Jasmine and he would have had to find a way to stop her without killing her. I would have liked to have seen that more but Charisma Carpenter getting pregnant lead to a change in plans and many fans have said Joss punished her for it by having her killed off in Season 5 and I am not sure about the truth behind that story but it was a bad move to kill her off in my opinion when they just brought her back 'cause she was such a big part of the show. The worst part about Season 4 for me was the Beast and how Angelus was able to get rid of him so easily after they made out he was unstoppable. I think it would have been better if they had him put up more of a fight and had Angelus only just beat him.

Season 4 was craptastic but it still looks like a masterpiece compared to most of these shows. Give me Angel and Cordy anyday over that Olicity shit.

Since when has the Arrowverse cared about chemistry between actors? If they did we wouldn't have Olicity. Or Nate and Amaya. Cisco and Gypsy. Felicity and Ray. Ray and Hawkgirl. Bob and Terry.

Ummm....Who are Bob and Terry? I think you made them up 'cause I don't remember them being in any of the 'Arrowverse' shows.
