Kill Em All through AJFA are overall better than any stretch of Megadeth albums, but the musicianship and individual talent level of Megadeth, primarily in the Friedman / Menza years, is better. Holy Wars is probably the best overall song by either, but Master of Puppets and Ride the Lighting start to finish are just better albums. So Metallica before the black album is better.

I can't imagine anyone here voting for ol' Dave.

I think that’s So Far So Good So What. I love that album. It’s insane from start to finish. The last album he did before he got cleaned up, and it sounds like it too.

I think I prefer Rust in Peace over any Metallica album, but voted Metallica.

Megadeth have some good songs but not enough of them to unseat Metallica in this matchup, and that's even with the crap Metallica have spewed out in the second half of their career.

Megadeth did produce the one anthem that's required listening for all metalheads.
